Great place to raise a family - 1/28/2011
I call Glendora, CA the Mayberry of the greater LA area. It's nestled in near the San Gabriel Mts just on the edge of LA County. The crime rate for LA is extremely low. The schools are good, and people here are easy to get along with. I'm involved with the local softball league, so I interact with quite a few people on an annual basis. Jobs seem as plentiful or better than most places right now if you don't mind driving in traffic. Traffic... there's the major downer of LA living, that and the cost of living. Glendora isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for I think for this area of So Cal. So Cal is great for weather, activities, restaurants, night light, but too many people and back-assward politics have turned the Sunshine State into something that resembles a Communist Nation rather than a state of the Republic. Great place to raise kids - 1/19/2006
Glendora is a slice of small town America in the L.A. area, a lovely suburban refuge, especially in the northern section of town. My wife and I moved there in the late 80s for the great school district and raised our daughter in the public schools from K through high school. Very community-oriented town with a lot of civic pride. As elsewhere in So Cal, it is a premium area as far as homes are concerned.
