Great place to live - 2/9/2019
I've lived in Highland for about 14 years. The East Highland area, where I live, is awesome. Great weather and very nice area with affordable and nice planned communities with the mountains as your backdrop. However, this is only typical in the "EAST HIGHLAND" portion of the city. The rest of the city is butt up against San Bernardino which has one of the highest crime rates in the country. Homelessness as well as poor housing and high crime is unfortunately what you will find outside East Highland. But, East Highland is like it's own world and I've never had an issue in 14 years here and love it. My house is 2850 sq ft and in a planned community with an H.O.A. that only costs me $25 a month. My house I bought new, 14 yrs ago, and spent less than $475,000. Expenses are reasonable except utilities. I spend about $400 a month on electricity and about $130 a month on the water/sewer bill.
