Living In Lone Pine - 8/13/2016
I’ve lived here in Lone Pine 10 years. I find the people here are generally friendly. The local store, Joseph’s, is well stocked and seems to enjoy brisk business. I have no concerns about shopping there.
The town is vibrant, especially during the summer time. Home owners and local businesses are seen to be constantly improving their properties.
Every year there’s a reliable flow of tourist traffic from Germany, France, Japan and locals from the San Francisco and the Los Angeles areas. This place is busy.
Don’t focus too narrowly on Lone Pine itself. You’d be cheating yourself to do so. RIDICULOUS PRICE GOUGING - 10/20/2009
I am with you on how beautiful it is here, but REALLY the price gouging that goes on here is so ridiculous. I paid 5.99 for a 12 ounce box of cereal yesterday because I did not have time to go an hour north or 2 hours south to the next nearest grocery stores!! I hate living here!!!!! Honestly, residents should get a break on the stupid high prices of Read More

I used to visit Lone Pine when I was younger many times, and 9 years ago, decided to move there.Lone Pine,in general,is a nice town, with lots of good people...but the town is changing, with bigger city problems coming this way,if things are not done about it soon. The one thing that is disturbing is Lone Pine has quite a few "grumpy"residents that seem to be angry all the time. What I would like to do is send these unhappy residents that find anger in everything down to Los Angeles for a month, and maybe they would like it more up here and not find fault in everything,or reason to be angry at everything and Read More

hard city to live in - 9/4/2008
the cost of living is high. we are at the mercy of the local only market. most people travel 81 miles to ridgecrest,ca for much better prices and walmart. even with the gas prices, its still cheaper to travel for supplies. i've been in this town for 17 years. the only thing wonderful about it is the scenery and the wide open spaces out of the immediate town.we look up at mt. whitney everyday. its truly beautiful, but the towns people are very hateful. you have to adapt to what they want from you or else. too bad, its really a great place to live in such a crime infested Read More
