Clean, Beautiful, Safe, and Expensive place to liv - 11/22/2007
There are pretty much no downsides to living in Mission Viejo except the cost of homes. That's pretty much Orange County wide however and MV is more affordable than the beach city communities. Unless you have $60,000 to put down and have a high income, if you are moving here from out of state be prepared for the fact that you will have to start with a tiny condo and work your way up as you accumulate appreciation on your home. A 2 bdrm condo in a decent area is going to run you a least $500K plus the $300 a month association dues. On the bright side, homes appreciate at a faster rate than most of the country so you just have to hang in there. The schools are award winning, great place to raise a family. Mission Viejo has also been voted one the safest places to live for a number of years now. Great place to live if you can afford

Mission Viejo is an overpriced, overcrowed, place to live. Even the weather is starting to suck. If I wanted this much humidity I would live on the East Coast. Going anywhere is a chore because of the traffic. Plastic people trying to out do each other. Oh and don't let me get started about the kids! Spoiled brats! Money can't buy you

Mission Viejo - 7/11/2007
Mission Viejo is a beautiful place to live, gorgeous weather, beautiful beaches but... there is a price to pay, it's extremely over crowded, expensive, traffic is horrendous, people drive like maniacs, and so many plastic people. There is so many things to see here but the highways are so congested that it's hard to get anywhere. The house prices are very high, you don't get much for your money, backyards are tiny. But it is a very family friendly place, it seems like most kids are into sports. The people that earn a lot of money, which seems to be a lot of them, are very snooty, they have that entitlement attitude, and their kids are a nightmare. there isn't many great restaurants here, usually we go to a neighboring city to eat out. We decided to sell our house take our equity and move to a less congested

mission viejo schools - 4/16/2007
Moving here from St. Louis, MO has shown me how much I took the schools for granted in St. Louis. Although it is outrageously expensive to live in OC, the public schools are very dissapointing. Although the school may receive a high rating on CA dept of ed website and elsewhere, it is because the entire CA public school system is so deficient. I went from paying 1/3 of the rent I do now and having an elementary school that was excellent to having my 8 yr old in a school that is very trailer like, with no extra-curricular classes such as music, art, or PE. The schools are all very dirty and lacking in materials. There is no cafeteria in case of rain; only strange trailers. I've visited many of the area elementary schools (that were highly rated) and found the same thing. CA government should be ashamed for letting their public school system be so deprived in comparison to other states, especially when the cost of living is through the

I just read the previous opinion on the city of Mission Viejo. I lived in Ladera Ranch for 6 years, which is the city next to Mission Viejo, and didn't see what the previous writer had seen. I saw people who ARE friendly and had wonderful down to earth friends who were, and still are, like family. Rudeness...I have no clue on that, I think there are rude people where ever you go, no place is that perfect. It is though, a very beautiful place with nice people and many things for families to do. There is a lot of money there true, it is Orange County, but with that also comes some highly educated individuals, which living where we live now, you don't see too often(no offense meant). We had to move from there because my husbands company transfered us to Nashville TN. Now here there are some rude, judgemental people and an outsider seems to stand out. It is a town still run by the old money that lives here. Want to talk bad traffic and bad drivers, well this is the place; it is a free

It is a planned community, with tree-lined streets. The annual Christmas display along La Paz is spectacular! There is a nearby 124 acre Lake for recreations (fishing, boating and Summer concert series). It is a family-orientated community with lots of baseball and soccer fields. It is mostly a bedroom community, with most people driving to other places for work, hence lots of traffic during rush hours. There is a world class Saddleback Church nearby, and plenty of places to shop and eat. It is built on rolling hills, and the city is not far from the beaches. The people for the most part are friendly and likeable. I lived here for over 20 years and have enjoyed it very much.

Thumbs down for Mission Viejo - 8/26/2005
While Mission Viejo is clean, safe, and a great location, the people here are self centered, disconnected, unfriendly, status and money oriented, and generally, self absorbed. If you can handle living amongst rude, stressful encounters on the road, in the stores, and in the schools, you might like it here. If you don't mind being honked at every minute for nothing, always pushed to go faster, and nosy people contantly babysitting your every move, you might like it here. We have been here for three years and are getting the heck out of here, house goes up for sale next week. I know the numbers look good on paper, but living in shark infested waters knows no boundaries. We'll come visit the glorious beaches and Disneyland. It's just not worth living here. We feel like we've aged 15 years in three because of the

Overall Living - 8/21/2005
Mission Viejo is a beautiful place with tree-lined streets, no slums, and one of the lowest crime rates in the U.S. The weather is always nice.
Homes are all in good repair (probably because of their value). Life style is very relaxed because of the low crime rate and the class of people that live here. It is a family
