Beautiful - 4/28/2018
I lived in Y.C Ca for 14 yrs and Nevada City became my favorite town to visit. The restaurants are great, the night life is mellow but you get a variety of music...shoos are unique, people very pleasant...we now live in w.Pa and I reminisce about the fun times I've had there...would love to end my days there....just a beautiful, laid back atmosphere...while Pa has it's beauty, Nevada City will always be special to

Moving to NC - Have Questions - 10/25/2017
We are seriously considering a move to Nevada City. I have a lot of questions about what it will be like for a liberal-minded family with a teenage son. Will he find other kids at the high school that are like him? I know there is a wide range of political views in the area. My question is not just about politics, but about values and style. Will a musically inclined, non-main stream teen, find people there? Thanks in advance for any advice on

Best Place to Live.. - 10/31/2016
I have been coming here since I was a child. I am from the bay area, the town I grew up in was small and I met my husband there. We raised our children there. The town grew and turned into one huge traffic jam. So in June 2011 we moved up here. It is like being on vacation every day. Our last son is going to school and is doing so well and has many friends. The one draw back is the crime increase since we moved up here, but it is not just in our community. Love Nevada City and all the very kind people I have met here.

population - 7/8/2009
Nevada City, CA. does have a population of around 4500 (IN THE CITY LIMITS)as of now. The funny thing is that the surrounding area including Grass Valley, in Western Nevada county, is closer to 120,000 plus people now, (who have all escaped from the metro areas in CA. and thus brought their mess with them). Its now become a crowded "Disneyland" with some pine trees.
When I was a Kid growing up, there was no freeway, people worked in the mills or as loggers, gold mining was still active, and fishing was excellent. I'll bet 10 to 1 that not one person first stopped on the streets of Western Nevada County could even name a place to fish within 10 minutes of their house.
Glenbrook "Plaza" was grazing land for cattle, with a pond on the eastern side where you could fish and go out on a row boat. "Georges Market and T.V Repair" shop was on the west side on Hiway 49. Brunswick road was a narrow two lane winder up the hill to Cedar Flat.
The Idaho Maryland mine was
