Placerville: Can't go wrong for foothill living - 7/11/2022
We've lived in PV for over 20 years, having moved from the LA area. We chose to move here while working with the intent on retiring here and commuted to Sacramento to finish our careers. No regrets! The area is balanced (politically and economically) despite being conservative-leaning (not a bad thing) and overall, our experience is everyone is friendly and respectful. Restaurants, stores and conveniences are mid-scale, affordable and absolutely enjoyable and accessible. Sacramento is 45 minutes away. Genuinely good people and community-minded activities in this historical gold rush town. We can't find another town that checks all the quality boxes for us the way Placerville Read More

Our retirement town - 12/6/2013
We have built our retirement home here completed in 2013. Still a few years away from moving in (kid's college & weddings) but we are really looking forward to it. Well, getting to know this place during the building process & now every other long weekend stays here I think we really hit a bulls eye. This place is even more charming than we thought & the locals here are friendly and without pretense. It also has a great weekend town nightlife with live music & good food in 3-4 places at the same time. Placerville is a Republican Island in a Blue State- all of the politics are dominated by San Francisco and L.A. limosine liberals, and how they vote controls state policy- the state was once ok for the shooting sports but the state laws are bascially killing them Read More
