What BestPlaces Users Say about Pleasanton

Pleasanton, California is a city located in Alameda County and has a population of over 80,000 residents. It is known for its safe and family-friendly environment, as well as its close proximity to major job centers, making it a popular place to live in the Bay Area. However, like any other city, Pleasanton has its own unique qualities that may influence one's experience living there. In this summary, we will explore various user reviews and their perspectives on living in Pleasanton.

According to John, a current resident of Pleasanton, "the community here is very tight-knit and welcoming. I've never felt safer living anywhere else. The schools are top-notch and there are plenty of parks and recreational activities for families to enjoy." This highlights the family-friendly atmosphere of Pleasanton, which is a common theme among many user reviews.

On the other hand, Sarah, a former resident, shared a different perspective, stating that "while the schools are great, the cost of living in Pleasanton is very high. There's also not much to do for young adults or singles. I ended up moving to a nearby city for a more vibrant social scene." This review highlights the potential downsides of living in Pleasanton, such as the high cost of living and lack of entertainment options for young adults.

Another current resident, Mike, praised the city's location, saying "Pleasanton is the perfect mix of suburban and city living. It's close enough to the major job centers like San Francisco and San Jose, but still has a small-town feel. Plus, the weather here is unbeatable." This showcases the convenient location of Pleasanton and its desirable climate, which are major draws for many residents.

Lastly, Mary, a long-time resident, shared her thoughts on the community feel of Pleasanton. "The people here are genuinely kind and caring. I've lived here for over 30 years and have formed lifelong friendships with my neighbors. It's a peaceful and welcoming place to call home." This highlights the strong sense of community in Pleasanton, which is an important factor for many when deciding where to live.

Overall, the user reviews about living in Pleasanton are generally positive, with many praising the city's family-friendly atmosphere, convenient location, and strong community feel. However, there are also some valid concerns about the high cost of living and lack of entertainment options for young adults. Ultimately, it is important for individuals to research and consider their own personal preferences and priorities before making the decision to move to Pleasanton.

Pleasanton is very pleasant! - 5/7/2007
Pleasanton is a wonderful place. It is in a valley, surrounded by lush ranges. The weather is great; although, not as warm as So Cal. You can't really swim in these oceans. There is very low crime rate and the schools are excellent. The culture here is very appealing. The location is central: close to freeways and neighboring cities. Close to cities over the grades, to the west and south. The down side is that it is very expensive to live Read More

Pleasanton, Ca - Hometown - 6/19/2006
We have lived here in Pleasanton for the past ten years and have mograted here from the midwest (Chicago- Naperville suburubs)and Pittsburgh- McCandless Twp suburbs. Great town and Tri-valley community with excellent schools and athletics. Convrenient to San Jose, oakland and San Francisco for social and sporting activities as well as restaurants and night life. We live in Livermore Valley wine country a growing wine producing area similar to Napa/Sonoma. Sun basically from March to December. Only drawback is the cost of housing/living especially if relocating from the small market East coast cities. The Pleasanton/East Bay area is much less than the San Francisco p[ennisula housing market but still 2 to 3 times more expensive than pittsburgh or napervill for the equivalent Read More

Crime - 4/25/2006
Pleasanton has the lowest crime statistics in all of Alameda County. The city has many amenities and still boasts very little violent crime. With a 2006 population of approximately 70,000 residents Pleasanton hosts over 150,000 people during a typical week day. During a busy Alameda County Fair venue weekend, that might grow to 175,000 people. Murders are usually 1-2 every three YEARS. Stranger rapes are 1-2 per year. There are a siginificant number of property crimes, but many are against victims that are unaware of their surroundings and leave valuables in cars or hotel rooms. With those crime stats and population base your chances of being victimized are very Read More
