STOP BUILDING & Rocklin will remain great - 8/1/2020
I have had the blessed opportunity to be born and raised in Rocklin, CA. Rocklin is truly one of the best towns to live in, in the sacramento area. It's a clean, smaller town with everything you need nearby. I'm 23 now and live in Orangevale which is about 20 minutes from Rocklin. My goal is to move back to rocklin within the next year, I had to move out of Rocklin 3 years ago when I moved out of my parents home because the rent was significantly higher than surrounding places, about 300-600 dollars more than what i'm paying now for a 1 bedroom apartment. Orangevale is nice but Rocklin is my home. The only thing I have to complain about is how much they are building in Rocklin.. it is so unnecessary and bringing so many unwanted people here creating more traffic and crime. I've seen them jam houses into these what used to be small fields where bunnies used to run about. Also with more building and bringing more people here it will only get more expensive. The summers are hot but other Read More

Great place to live - 7/25/2019
I've lived in the Sacramento vicinity for 12 years, and in Northern California my entire life (I grew up in the San Jose area). The area of Rocklin I am living in is the best place I've ever lived. It's safe, people are friendly, streets are clean, we're close to Highway 80, and every store we need is within 5 minutes. We live on the border of Loomis, and are in the Loomis school district, which has one of the best rated high schools in the state: Del Oro. People are regularly jogging & walking dogs in our neighborhood, a rare site in the prior two places I lived in Sacramento and Elk Grove.

The summers are hot, but unlike most of the country it's a dry heat. Easy access to the Sierra Mountains is nice, and the ocean is only about 2 hours away. Our house is at about 350 feet elevation, and my wife really noticed a difference in air quality from when we were living in Sacramento.

Housing is getting expensive so if you plan on buying, I recommend doing it soon. Read More

Rocklin, is not all that - 3/4/2011
seriously? Let me tell you what I have observed since moving here from Gilbert, AZ 3 months ago.I know I am going to take grief for this so go ahead and let it fly, please note I am only speaking the truth. the crime is out of control. Everyday in the SACBEE i read about a shooting, EVERY DAY! I also have never seen so many wannabees as there are here. Seriously the guys are total goobers, everyone has the typical tattoo on their bicep it makes me want to crack up. And what is with wearing the torn shirts on the sides at the gym, hilarious! I feel like i am stuck in the eighties. Oh wait there is more, they all drive the silly trucks jacked up to the sky with the big tires and does everyone have to smoke? Sorry but there is a lot of TPT here. I have a good job that sent me here. I am hoping to find the cool part of Rocklin. I have been told to look in Whitney Ranch, Stanford Ranch area,. if anyone can help please let me know as i need to buy a house here or we will get killed in Read More

Suburbia at its finest (or worst) - 10/5/2010
Pros: Clean, lots of shopping nearby, close to Sierra Nevada mountains, safe.
Cons: Lots of traffic on side streets all day long, many long red lights, lots of U-turns required, many stores are ridiculously crowded (Costco OMG), dull monotone culture, expensive rent, hot summers, many stereotypical stuck-up rich people: not everyone of course, but out of the 3 different areas in CA I've lived and the many, many US cities I've visited people in this city are generally more unpleasant, rude, and self-serving than anywhere else. I don't think they know how awful they're acting either, but I guess that's what happens when you live in a sheltered suburban bubble for too long.

Pros vs. cons? You do the math. If you're still unsure, spend a day at a Rocklin or nearby Roseville retail store and watch how the customers treat the employees. Read More

Life Style - 3/21/2007
Rocklin is about 675 square miles with 52,000 people and the neighboring cities are Lincoln to the North and Roseville to the South. From Roseville to Rocklin, there are shops galore! Every retail store imaginable! It makes life so much easier when you don't have to travel great distances to go to a store. The residential areas are quiet and the entire community is great for raising children. The nightlife is basically Thunder Valley Read More

Its a dry heat - 6/13/2006
Rockin is pretty hot in the summer, has mildly cold winters, cool autumns and perfect spring. Spring is often shorter than you want because summer heat comes on fast. Usually May is end of the nice weather and the heat pushes up to mid 90s and low 100s. It tends to be hot in summer but a) its a dry heat and b) if you work indoors, there is always nots of AC. Its only when you get in that car at the end of the day that you really feel Read More
