Nice Place, but too small. - 7/25/2017
I moved to Soquel at 24 after I graduated UC Santa Cruz. It's a beautiful town wedged right up against the coast line. However, it's too small. Many of the people who live there are long time residents who stick to themselves. While there, I got a sense that they were not too keen on outsiders (I'm originally from the Bay Area). It's a good place to raise a family but given my age it's not a very fast paced place. Instead, it is VERY laid back. I felt very safe though walking down the street at night. Streets are very poorly lit but never once did I ever feel like I was in any danger. Soquel is also VERY expensive. I guess living in a place like that comes with a price!
PROS:
Safe
Clean
Friendly-ish people
Close to the beach
Dog friendly
CONS:
Slow paced
Expensive $$$$
Traffic
"Bubble" mentality

No one knows where it is or how to pronounce it. It as small sleepy town that has a wonderful sense of community. Main street welcomes home it's brave with balloons and homemade signs on each porch. There are mountains, creeks, redwoods and of course the beach, all in one local. The weather is what I call neutral. Not too hot and never very cold. It is a comfortable place, all the bells and whistles are hidden, but can be had if you desire them.
