don’t live in sp if you’re brown lol - 8/16/2020
i grew up in south pas, i’m currently 20. this is not a good place for individual expression. the old white people will stare you down no matter what it is that you’re doing, and the cops will assume you’re not from the city and beat you up (while handcuffed) because of the color of your skin tone. my mother moved us here when i was 4 years old because of the schools, but the schools aren’t as great as they’re made out to be. the teachers are racist and mean, throughout my time as a spusd student, i had multiple teachers/staff tell me i wasn’t going to graduate, that i wasn’t going to amount to anything in life, while the white kids who would interrupt the class became the teacher’s pet. not to mention the students who’s white privilege allows them to say awful racist snd sexist things and get away with it. also the fact that juuling and smoking and sex is so normalized from middle school!! i hated my time at spms and sphs, due to the fact that i never felt like i fit in with the Read More

Great Place but Really Expensive if You Have a Fa - 1/10/2012
I lived in South Pasadena from 2000-2009 and I really took it for granted until I moved.

I relocated from the Midwest and I initially lived in Culver City for about a year. I wound up in South Pasadena completely randomly when a friend suggested I look there when my fiance and I were separating.

The positives of "South Pas", as locals call it, are really endless. From a location stand-point it is pretty awesome, especially if you work in downtown LA or anywhere in central Los Angeles.

The real charm of South Pasadena is that it has a "small town feel" in the middle of Los Angeles. There is quaint "downtown" area with some cool restaurants and coffee shops with quite a bit of activity on a consistent basis. There is also a lot of diversity amongst gender, race, age and sexual orientantion. There is a really great open feeling here.

Also, Whether you like to walk, run or bike there are lots of great places to do this. If you are a Read More

South Pasadena,CA - 11/23/2009
Because of the historic nature of the neigborhoods in South Pas, it appears in many films, TV and commercials. Halloween was filmed here, as well as dozens of movies. Picturesque neighborhoods mimic the US Northwest, Midwest and Southwest. Its got a wonderful small-town vibe. Great reataurants, great shops, great cafes, friendly people, and many great walks around town. Or bike. The historic Arroyo neighborhood in South Pasadena (and the adjoining San Pasqual and Garvanza area) was where the Arts & Crafts movement got its start in California back in the early 1900s. The only bridge built by the Greene & Greene bros is here, as are three extant stone and wood stagecoach stations. Many architecturally significant structures throughout the city. Here you will find mansion compounds and tiny cottages and bungalows. Thousands of lovely trees. Lowest crime rate in L.A. County. One of the best school systems in the country. Many artists, scientists and educators make their home in South Read More

housing prices - 4/23/2006
Housing prices in South Pasadena are very, very high. We have great schools, beautiful historic neighborhoods, and a very small-town feeling in a place 10 minutes by freeway from downtown Los Angeles. We are even closer to Pasadena, a beautiful city, and have a view of the San Gabriel mountains. It's a great place to live... if you can afford Read More
