Stockton, I would move but I have too good of a jo - 11/19/2007
Stockton has its ups and downs as does any large metro city of 300+ thousand people. I have lived here all my life except for a small time in AR when I was a child and that didn't count. I have to admit I had checked out Oklahoma and found it a tad bit too hot for my taste in the summer. Though the cost of living was crazy low. Calif. overall has a very liberal political climate and for conservatives such as myself an family it is hard. My job and some family hold me here in Stockton,Calif. Other wise I would take off to Idaho state for Read More

Did you notice..... - 11/19/2007 the Stockton defenders mention how close Stockton is to other places? Close to Tahoe, the Bay Area, the beach, etc. They want to leave here too!!!! Not one of them talks about how great it is to live in Stockton. Read the loacl newspaper. They just had a couple articles about how people are being let out of jail early because it's overcrowded. One person spent a week in jail on a six month sentence. Another was released 57 days into a 180 day sentence. Of course, the voters turned down a sales tax increase to add on to the jail, so this kind of practice will continue. If you do the crime in Stockton, you'll be out in now time! This place still sucks no matter how close it is to anything. Still can't wait to get out of Read More

Stockton is a Great Place to Live!!!! - 11/1/2007
I was born is Stockton. I lived in Oklahoma for 4 years...hated it. I live in a great place to near to UPO in Stockton. We are just 2 hours for the beach, the coast, the mountains, and desert. We have a great climate all year around. The people are kind if you get to know them. We are very diverse; 33% hispanic, 32% White, 11% Black, 5% Asian, etc... Alot of great churches. I love Stockton and I love it's Read More

These posts are over exaggerated and uninformative - 9/11/2007
Im from Stockton, here are a few good things about the city, excellent location, Bay area, Sacramento, Sierra Nevadas, and beaches are all within 1-2 hours. Great diversity people from all walks of life, Job growth, Revitalizing the downtown area, (beautiful new arena and ballpark) the Delta water ways if you enjoy boating, also provides a nice breeze through out the year, University of the Pacific a presitgious private school with a beautiful campus, Nice weather, lots of sunshine. Sure theres crime but it's definately not the worst, besides it is a city what do you Read More

If you can help it, don't move here - 9/6/2007
I'm only in Stockton to go to school for two years, and now that I'm over halfway through, I can't wait to get out of this place. People are rude, can't drive, don't know what a STOP sign is, etc, etc, etc. There is graffiti everywhere, and once someone comes by to paint over it, it takes less that three days before it's tagged again! With all the crime and gang activity here, I can't understand why anyone would choose to make a permanent home here. I don't feel safe in my own backyard at night. Nine months to go!!! AAAGGGHHH!!! I can't Read More

Nothing here is worth the cost - 8/29/2007
You have expensive houses that aren't even worth the cost. Everything here closes early and for a reason. THere's too many roberies here. Our cars have been broken into at least front of our own houses...and we have 4 cars...2 of our cars have been stolen but later found... Education here is horrible... there are three school districts in Stockton and all of them are just as bad...Stockton is the worst place to have such a university like University of the Pacific. The only places open late are 2 cafe's and a houka cafe...hope this is Read More

Bring a gun ......... - 8/6/2007
I owned a great business in Stockton as well as a home ....... robberies at BOTH (within the same week) are telling my family and I to move out of state.
There is a problem with homeless people , crime , drugs , and general cleanliness of this "great" city. The water is terrible to drink , and the cost of living is too high . If you would like to live in a "safe" area , you can expect to pay upwards of $650,000 for your home. Otherwise be prepared for the worst. I am joining the ranks of many friends and moving to Washington or Read More
