What BestPlaces Users Say about Victorville

Victorville is a city located in the high desert region of Southern California. It has a population of over 122,000 people and is known for its diverse community, affordable housing, and close proximity to popular attractions such as the Mojave National Preserve and Big Bear Lake. However, living in Victorville also has its challenges, including high crime rates and limited job opportunities.

According to many user reviews on BestPlaces.net, living in Victorville has both its pros and cons. Some residents praise the city for its affordable cost of living and friendly community. For example, user "Sara" states, "I've lived in Victorville for over 10 years and have never felt more at home. The people are welcoming and the cost of living is affordable compared to other cities in California." However, others mention the city's high crime rates and lack of job opportunities. User "John" shares, "Victorville has a lot to offer in terms of affordable housing, but the crime rate is concerning. It's also difficult to find decent job opportunities here."

Another aspect that is commonly mentioned in the reviews is the weather in Victorville. While some enjoy the dry and sunny climate, others find it unbearable. User "Maria" expresses, "I hate the heat in Victorville. It's hot almost all year round and I can't stand it. I wish there was more variety in the weather here." On the other hand, user "Mike" says, "I love the weather in Victorville. It's perfect for outdoor activities and the sunny days always put me in a good mood."

In addition to the city itself, many reviewers also mention the surrounding areas and the amenities they offer. User "Emily" writes, "One of the best things about living in Victorville is the close proximity to popular attractions like Big Bear Lake and Las Vegas. It's great to have these options for weekend getaways." However, some mention the lack of cultural and entertainment options in the city. User "Luis" comments, "You have to drive at least an hour to find decent shopping or entertainment options. It can get frustrating living in a city that feels so isolated."

Overall, user reviews about living in Victorville are mixed. While some appreciate the affordability and community feel, others mention the limitations and challenges that come with living in this particular place. As user "Sara" puts it, "Victorville may not be the perfect place, but it's home for me and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else."

Cost of living too high and Victorville is not wor - 12/10/2006
If anyone is contemplating moving to Victorville, I would suggest to go to the neighborhood you anticipate to live in and ask the community about Victiorville.I can save you the trip and tell you that you may find a three car garrage, five bedroom hoom but at 480,000 plus. Well if you dont own your own business or have no mortgage payment you are in for a big employment surprise. There are no good paying jobs, avg pay 8.00 per hour. The school test scores are verry low, there are more registered sexual offenders in the high desert which Victorville is in;than there is in any other county nationwide. Gangs from Los Angeles have infiltrated the high desert. The water bill is guaranteed to be among the highest water bills you will probably ever receive. People are rude, and your neighbor will more than likely be competing with you over who has the better house. Victorville is a front. Unless you live in it, you can actually see its true aspect.

Victorville change for the worse - 8/15/2006
Hello I am moving out of this City. It has changed too much for the worst. The housing is affordable but the streets are awful. There are too many people moving up here and waiting times have tripled everywhere. The medical care staff have been very rude up here as there are too many patients and not enough doctors, especially ones that speak english. Too hot in the summer as well. Many people are very hostile and rude on the roads, especially Bear Valley Road. Too much growth too soon.............Bad planning as usual by our overpaid indifferent politicians.

How it it done? - 5/5/2006
I am still dumb struck....A full year after relocating out of Victorville, having sold at the peak of the housing market over-inflation, I have not yet grasped an understanding of how buyers manage their financial obligations. This region is said to be the most affordable area within commuting distance to Los Angeles, Riverside, Ontario. Yet home prices remain well over 325k for modest track homes in marginal communities, with few amenities.

How can buyers swing this? Is everybody making over 100k? Is all of California trustafarians? Then on top of it all, everyone has the toys; boats, trucks, quads, dirt bikes, camper trailers, jet skis, toy haulers. Check out the I-15 heading to Vegas and the river each and every weekend to catch the parade. How do people have money left over at the end of the month to put gas in the tank and get to work? And what kinds of jobs do people work to support the high cost of living?

I envision a day of reckoning on the Read More

It's yours! - 2/2/2006
Mass exodus is right....the long time locals moving out and the commuters in. This place is the next Moreno Valley, but with allot more wind and trash. It has it's charms, plenty of sunshine and desert recreation, however has been inundated with transplants from L.A., O.C. and the rest of the I.E. looking to cash out their equity, buy more toys, escape crime, and move to a new, larger home with a 3 car garage. The problem is, it's bringing the same problems their seeking to escape.

The traffic east of I-15 is horrendous, and reminiscent of Temecula's runaway growth, gang influence is now present in the schools, and crime is a serious issue throughout the 4 surrounding cities. Oh, and check out the state standardized test scores for the local schools. If that won't turn you off to the area, then look at a water bill.

You can build your own oasis in Oak Hills, or Apple Valley for 400K +, but you're still surrounded by an ever encroaching sprawl.Read More

Mass Exodus to High Desert!!! - 12/30/2005
The high desert Adelanto-Barstow-Victorville-Hesperia, Phelan-Pinion Hills-Oak Hills to name a few is experiencing a humongous influx of people. People from all over the world are making and has made the high desert home.
