IMO - 4/2/2014
I moved my Family to Fruit in January of 2013---It has been a very good community to live. It is a pedestrian friendly community and we feel very safe. Only one local grocery store (City Market), a Walgreens, a few national brand fast food establishments and a couple of restaurants.
Grand Junction is only 5-8 miles to the east, with a decent business base (very accessible from Fruita).

There is a small hospital next to a very nice community center. The community center has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, basketball courts, indoor track, weights. The membership fee is affordable. It also has a branch of the Mesa County Library located in the building.

The people here have been very friendly and accepting to us as outsiders. IMO---They are more conservative then the people on the Front Range (Denver). The schools are okay, but nothing to brag about---IMO.

History of Mack, Colorado around the early 1900's - 8/3/2013
My mother, sister and grandparents lived in Mack close to the railroad and stock pens. They say that our grandparents ran a restaurant/bar near their. Said that the ranglers and cowboys would come and eat and drink. My aunt said she remembers that the cowboys would ride their horses through the bar when they were drunk and my Ggrandfather would make them dance with the men. My Ggreatgandfther and ggranmothers name were Saul and Casandra Pacheco, they had property for farming and ranching. Have pictures of my mom and her sister setting on the corrals, Barn and house. My aunt Della said someone had wrote a book about that area back then. My mother went to school in Mack in grade school years. Sure would like some info about back then or even the book!Read More

Not just here - 3/3/2010
local politics are controlled by larger city (denver) liberal anti American views. We all know what America stands for and what it is supposed to be, and neither the Republicans or the Democrates share this view. Most people do not seem to care anymore either. Its all about who is going to GIVE me what "I" Read More
