Great place to live~ no racism here. - 3/22/2010
Yeah, I live here and yeah, I'm white. My neighbor is Mexican (from Mexico), and his neighbor is black. A few doors down there's an Indian couple from India. Next to them is another black family (from Jamaica) and they have a monthly meeting in their house or yard to practice Voodoo. Nice people though, if a bit odd on those particular nights when they're wearing the robes and such...
In any case, I take offense to people saying Highlands Ranch is "very white" and you need to think that way to fit in. We're just people here and we all get along. I'm sure that as a community we make a bit more than other communities as on my street there's one lawyer and nine engineers. One of those engineers is Thai by the way.
Get off the "White" racism stick please!

Great Quality of Life in Highlands Ranch - 12/29/2009

Not very friendly - 9/24/2009
I've never lived in Highland's Ranch but I did work there for over a year and for me, this one of those places I chuckle dryly at as I drive past. I work in a field that requires a very high amount of customer service and I met a lot of people while working here. Almost everyone I met was very proud to live in this town to the point where they looked down on people who weren't residents. I was often asked where I was from and then treated to smug comments about how much better Highland's Ranch is and there was a consistent feeling of being an unwelcome outsider. It looks like a pretty nice place to live, well maintained and I heard way more than I wanted to about how much better the schools are and how much lower the crime rate is, but if you're looking for anything more than a suburb to raise a family in then you'll be disappointed; there's nothing at all to do in Highland's Ranch. And there's no diversity, everyone is white and upper-middle class to white and very

I live in colorado springs. I am married with an autistic child. I am a black female and a disabled veteran ( I was in the Air Force) my husband is in the Army. We have lived here for 3 years And I love the scenery but it is hard to find jobs and the rental and housing is sky high. I am an army bratt! I started school in Germany and graduated high school in Hawaii I know expensive and this is it. When our son was in kindergarten I picked him up from school instead of my husband and the next day the kids Jumped him.they said he was not yellow white he is yellow black and used the N-word. I was shocked my husband looks mixed or latino and my son looks just like him. I sometimes get those attitudes when my husband and I go out to eat at some places such as Briargate area, Woodland Park, Littleton, etc. I am surprised I only lived here previously when

Update on my feelings of Highlands Ranch - 9/24/2007
I received an email from "D & J" from Utah wondering if my feelings have changed about Highlands Ranch since last year. (There was incorrect contact information, so I will post my reply here.) Since last year, my feelings about Highlands Ranch have only continued to improve. I am more attached to this place than ever before!
Yes, the cost of living is slightly higher than you'll find in other places, but you get what you pay for in terms of: location; housing options (every type of housing is available here); roadways/sidewalks; enviornment maintenance; recreation centers; open space trails; public/private golf courses; library; shopping; entertainment; different religions; extremely low crime rates; and quality people. In my opinion, it's ALL worth it! (Of course that's up to everyone to decide for themselves.) The extracurricular activites for kids tend to be a little higher in price, but the quality of the programs make up for it.
The school system

I searched the zip code 80130 and came up with a brief desription of Littleton. While technically Highlands Ranch is in Littleton everyone who lives here calls it Highlands Ranch.
It is a great community with a very welled designed infrastructure including wide streets, detached sidewalks, plenty of access to parks, walking paths, retail and recreation centers.
The average age of the homes here is relatively young. In fact, the entire community was a ranch until the mid 1980's! Now it is a sea of production homes and custom estates. The population growth boomed here throughout the 90's and early 2000 which has fueled some terrific additions in amenities, parks and schools.
Overall, crime is low, schools are good (or excellent depending on what you're used to) and life is good in HR!
I live in Highlands Ranch and have helped people move here since the nineties. Feel free to contact me for additional

Remember "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"?
Everyone here looks the same (blonde/blue/VERY white) and thinks the same (if you don't vote correctly{or at least claim to - just to busy!} and go to the correct church you don't belong... are you a commie or a terrorits?). Oh yea, if you are a breeder (the more kids the better) and fit into the above categories, you have an almost exalted position here.
That being said, the price of housing CAN be less, if you are in the right bracket.
Did you want CULTURE??? WE got PLENTY!!!
Any "chain" food you want - space rental is WAY too expensive for the "mom and pop's". Theatre??? a 24 plex and as many church plays as you can handle. In fairness, the highschools DO put on some wonderful productions.
Still, you could go to one of the other areas near here - just a lot more of the same.
If you crave culture, diversity, tolerance and acceptance - and can afford the VERY high

We LOVE Highlands Ranch - 6/19/2006
We moved here from Utah for a job transfer. We were a little apprehensive at first, but Highlands Ranch is one of the best places we've ever lived. The whole city is beautiful, well kept, and fun to drive around--looking at all the homes and parks. The 4 recreation centers (swimming pools, tennis, batting cages, workout rooms, basketball courts, inside/outside tennis courts, child care, volleyball courts, rock climbing wall, etc.) are spaced very well throughout Highlands Ranch. The neighborhoods are well equipped with parks, walking paths and biking trails throughout. The community activities/gatherings are plentiful and open to the public mainly for free, or a very small fee! They also have an extensive selection of classes (for better than average prices) for everything you can think of: t-ball, dancing, soccer, gardening, karate, the list goes on and on and on. The community association fees are very reasonable, and the amenities definetely are worth the price. There are
