Idyllic small town in a fertile valley - 1/28/2021
Paonia is Colorado’s best kept secret... amazing food, climate and scenery. Close to ski resorts and big city amenities, but isolated and charming. The town is safe and the people are eclectic and friendly. I love raising my three children here.

Used to be sweet and simple. Now becoming Boulder. - 6/12/2019
I have lived just outside of Paonia for 35 years. The area is pretty, but jobs are scarce. Used to be mostly 'down to earth' farmers and ranchers and coal miners here. Now, because of local greedy real estate agents advertising all over the USA and driving the home and land prices sky high, it has become a haven for opportunistic pot growers and 'new age' rich left wing trust funders who are looking for a quieter life style. Most of whom are trying to change the area into where they have moved here from... cutesy, trendy, pricey, politically correct, social justice havens.
