Danbury, Connecticut is a small city located in Fairfield County, with a population of approximately 84,730. Its proximity to New York City and its diverse community make it an attractive place to live. However, like any city, it has its own unique characteristics and experiences. In this particular place, many users have shared their thoughts and reviews about living in Danbury on Bestplaces.net. These reviews range from positive to negative, covering different aspects such as the cost of living, diversity, and overall quality of life. Below, I have summarized four reviews from different users that provide a glimpse into what it's like living in Danbury.

1) According to a user named Karen, "Danbury is a great city to live in, with plenty of job opportunities and a strong sense of community. The downtown area has a lot to offer, from cute shops to delicious restaurants. The cost of living can be high, but it's worth it for the quality of life here."

2) On the other hand, a user named John had a different experience, stating that "the traffic and congestion in Danbury can be unbearable. And while there are some great schools, the public school system could use some improvement. The cost of living is also quite high, especially for housing."

3) In contrast, another user, Maria, shared that "Danbury has an amazing diversity and a very welcoming community. There is always something to do, whether it's attending cultural events or exploring the many parks and trails. The cost of living is reasonable, and I feel safe living here."

4) Lastly, a user named Steve highlighted the natural beauty of Danbury, saying "I absolutely love living in Danbury. The views of Candlewood Lake and the surrounding hills are breathtaking, especially during the fall season. Plus, the cost of living is manageable, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy."

While there may be some challenges such as the high cost of living and traffic, the sense of community, diversity, and natural beauty make Danbury a desirable place to live for many.

SANCTUARY CITY - 3/19/2009
Danbury, in my opinion has many neighborhoods that have become gheto's,that are rapidly expanding. The Police are under staffed. The Hospital, Library, Schools, Parks, and Main Street have become over-run with Illegals. I have lived in Danbury for 15 years and want to Get Out. The median home cost is $317,000 and declining. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal does not take action & ICE needs to do alot more RAIDS. DEPORTATION, The Only Solution Read More

Can't Wait to Leave - 5/14/2007
As someone before me put it so well, "We moved into Danbury almost 6 years ago. Since then, particularly after 9/11, there seems to have been a population boom. Local traffic has increased dramatically and the roads are inadequate. 5 new expensive "luxury" Condo complexes have gone up within 1-2 miles of ours. There are plenty of chain restaurants and a great mall. Overall we were happy here but can't wait to leave now."

The only change I'd make to that is that I've been here 7 years and was happy for the first two, but because of the reasons above, particularly the EXPLODING over-development of mostly condos and "cluster houses", and the resulting environmental damage (especially runoff and flooding), I would have liked to have left AT LEAST 2 years Read More

A few minutes over an hour due north of New York City, you'll find Danbury, CT, gateway to New England. This historical city, cradle of America's hat manufacturers at the turn of the last century, boasts a multicultural environment and very affordable housing prices. Come Read More
