Bartow Needs A Renovation - 1/27/2019
I lived in Bartow for a year and a half before moving to Lakeland. The town seems so oppressed. The housing market is costly–$140,000 is the average price for a brick and mortar home that will need a LOT of work–and the job market is horrible. The average pay is around $31,000. The high school and middle school are in dire need of a change. Most sophomores can't even do basic multiplication/division. Of course, this isn't so much the fault of the teachers as it is the school board. The town doesn't offer too much to do other than Mary Holland Park and a handful of stores such as Walmart, Lowe's, Publix, etc. The cost of electricity is through the roof as Bartow buys their electricity through

Infringement upon property owners - 10/4/2013
The city council in this town need to get a grip on reality and understand that they work for the people who pay their taxes. The city ordinance that prevents property owners from placing signs in their yards is ridiculous. Individuals who want to place signs essentially stating "God Bless the USA" should not be prevented from doing so. Preventing property owners from placing such signs is a blatant disregard for the rights of property owners in the United States of America. We live in a free country not a communist state. I find the city ordinance that does not allow homeowners to place small signs in their yards stating essentially "god bless the USA" utterly ridiculous. As a proud American this is an affront to those who have served to ensure our political and personal freedoms. As a property and homeowner this is a blatant infringement upon individual property rights. As a tourist I will not consider Bartow Florida a destination place. It appears that a change in the city council and mayor is desperately needed. We live in the United States of America not a communist country.
