Not worth the cost of living - 9/12/2019
I live in Boynton and every year it gets worse down here... The heat has been unbearable for months and the city is overcrowded! A simple errand can take much longer than it should, and a lot of drivers are rude and aggressive. Expect to sit through 3 lights when turning into any Publix, and bad traffic USED to be more seasonal but now it's just Bad and Worse. The cost of living is far too high for what the average resident can afford and even when one can afford to be Middle Class, it's just not worth the extra money. Prices are high for everything, especially housing, but even simple entertainment and services are out of reach for many of us. There are many public spots where addicts and homeless reside, this area was and is flooded by sober living houses, many run by fraudulent owners. The beach was a nice thing but that was when the water was mostly safe and free from flesh eating bacteria and Red Tide. But the worst thing lately is the endless heat. It doesn't stop, it's worse Read More

Living in Boynton Beach - 3/1/2015
The climate is not bad. Mild winters but hot and humid summers. Hurricanes, but no snow and ice storms. Cost of living is a little too high, as is population density. Culture and recreational activities are adequately available, but local city police agency law enforcement practices are aggressive to the point of being predatory. Although this is not true of the county law enforcement culture which is far more reasonable. Plenty of great beaches, but no hills or topography of any kind save landfills and overpasses. Like anywhere else, it has it's pros and cons. Not for everyone, but some may find it to be Read More

comment on snother's review of escalating cost of - 7/16/2009
Responding to the comment about the escalating costs in Boynton Beach, FL, from the writer who moved there from CT.....We are looking fwd to retiring there in 2-3 years for a relief from the extraordinary costs associated with our present (and past 6 yrs residence)location on Long Is., NY.

We will be able to easily live on 1/3 of our current needs here in NY.
The writer should consider moving to NM, as our daughter will be doing shortly, coming from Seattle. Her costs will be 20% lower there than in WA state. Just don't try to live in downtown Santa Read More

West Palm Beach Metro area General Review by 17 ye - 5/4/2008
I'll start with the good stuff. The weather is great year round. Yes, summers are hot but we do have A/C. If you truly aren't heat tolerant then stay away. Otherwise you have year round outdoor activities. You will never run out of things to do. There is everything under the sun here in this area. Culture, pro sports, night life , rec activities, concerts, fairs, museums etc. May have to drive a bit to get to these activities but not that far. The beaches are beautiful and varied, each beach sort of has it's own personality. Great place for boating lifestyle, obviously.

The not so good: It is crowded here. There are people everywhere and then some. You will never be "alone". Contrary to popular belief there are some friendly people here. It's just that there is a stress level here that is high. Everyone seems "on edge". One of the main reasons I moved here (1990) was affordable housing. That is long gone. Even if prices crash more it will still be Read More

Wonderful Weather - 3/22/2008
Boynton Beach FL has great weather. It's a little warmer in July and Aug. (in the high 80s and sometimes 90s) but the rest of the year is great. I've found other parts of the country are warmer in the summer, into the 100s. There is almost always a breeze off the ocean so the air is not stagnant. Jan thru March is the best time of year. It's cooler (60s to 75) and rains more. We are having a drought now (3/2008) so the rain is Read More

Once a Safe, Secure City... Crime Is Ruining It's - 1/22/2008
Boynton Beach is a beautiful city. Unfortunately, crime rates have increased severely through the past few years. The people here are also very unfriendly for the most part. If you move here don't expect to talk to people often or have many friends.

I would recommend renting here instead of buying to see if it's the city for Read More
