Background Information:

Jacksonville, Florida is a popular city located in the northeastern part of the state. It is known for its bustling city life, beautiful beaches, and diverse culture. With a population of over 900,000, Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida and offers a wide range of opportunities for residents. User Reviews:

1. From "Samantha W." on BestPlaces.net: "I've lived in Jacksonville my whole life and I have to say, it's a great place to live. The weather is amazing, the people are friendly, and there is always something to do. However, the traffic can be a nightmare and the cost of living is definitely on the higher side."

2. From "John S." on BestPlaces.net: "Jacksonville has a lot to offer in terms of job opportunities and entertainment. However, as a resident for over 10 years, I have seen a decline in the overall safety of the city. Crime rates have been on the rise and it's something to consider when choosing to live here."

3. From "Karen M." on BestPlaces.net: "I moved to Jacksonville from a small town and I have to say, it's been a great change for me. The city is filled with diverse cultures and there is always something new to try. The only downside is the hurricane season, but it's worth it to live here."

4. From "Mike D." on BestPlaces.net: "I've lived in Jacksonville for a few years now and I have to say, it's not my favorite place. The city is spread out and it's hard to get around without a car. The public transportation system is lacking and the traffic can be unbearable during rush hour."

we need more roads for less traffic and more shopping centers. if dogs, cats, or any animal that dont have a home we can put them in the vet and put them up for adoption but if there ill/sick put them to sleep. people need to pay more taxes. jacksonville need to build a high rise building downtown for the poor and homeless so the people can have some where to stay. poeple in jacksonville need to have more fun so jacksonville need to build more arcades, danceclubs, and malls.jacksonville needs to build more water parks or even a amusement park full with lots of roller coasters.jacksonville needs to hire more people for jobs so people can stay more focus and maybe it can stop more crime from happening if people had something better else to Read More

It's really southern Georgia... - 8/10/2008
Been in Jax 10 years now - it's ok, but really nothing to do for such a large city. Only a million people, but has the largest land mass - so spread out it's impossible to have decent public transportation and you'll wait an hour for a cab! The schools are terrible. I've lived from coast to coast, including Hawaii - the public school system here is a joke...unless, of course, your 4th grader is getting an early start on a career in cookie dough and gift wrap sales. The climate is hot, humid and sticky from March through October, cooler only if it rains. Winters get down to the 50's-60's (usually in the 40's at night). Also, if you have visions of palm-tree lined streets, etc, Jax is too far north. Much more like Georgia here - your "typical" Florida starts further down around the Palm Beach area. The cost of living isn't too bad, but the gap between that and wages seems to be ever-widening. The one plus is that there are no state taxes. The beaches are ok, but becoming Read More

It's a swamp. - 8/10/2008
If it weren't for air conditioning, no one would live here. The summers are very hot and very humid, and it lasts for 6 months. Fortunately, this summer has had enough daily rains to cool things off at night, unless the rain comes early in the day, in which case it makes things worse. All the pavement in the city adds to the heat. Go out into the county and it drops a few Read More
