What BestPlaces Users Say about Palm Bay

Palm Bay, Florida is a city located on the eastern coast of Florida. It is known for its natural beauty, with many parks and waterways, as well as its close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The city has a diverse population and offers a variety of recreational activities and amenities. With this context in mind, let's take a look at what some users have to say about living in Palm Bay.

According to Sarah B., "Palm Bay is a great place to live if you love being outdoors. There are so many parks and trails to explore, and the beaches are just a short drive away." On the other hand, John M. shares his experience, stating "The cost of living in Palm Bay is very reasonable. You can find affordable housing options and there is no state income tax, which is a huge plus." These reviews highlight the natural beauty and affordability of Palm Bay.

However, not all reviews are positive. As reviewed by Lisa S., "The job market in Palm Bay is not the best. It can be difficult to find employment in certain industries, and the pay is not always competitive." This may be a concern for those considering a move to Palm Bay for employment opportunities.

Another aspect of living in Palm Bay that receives mixed reviews is the community. While Mary B. praises the diversity and friendliness of the city, stating "There are people from all walks of life here and everyone is very welcoming," Samantha K. has a different perspective, sharing "I have found the community to be a bit cliquey and it can be hard to make friends if you're not from here originally." This highlights the subjective nature of community and how personal experiences can differ.

In summary, the reviews about living in Palm Bay, Florida are varied. The city offers a beautiful natural environment, affordable cost of living, and a diverse population. However, there may be challenges with the job market and community dynamics, which may impact one's overall experience in this particular place.

Palm Bay has High Cost of Living - 2/23/2023
I moved to Palm Bay in 2020 and the cost of living has skyrocketed! A two bedroom apartment was around $900/month in 2020. Now it's $1600 and up. Mostly up. A three bedroom house was under $250,000 in 2020, now it's closer to $300,000. Florida has been hit hard by investors over-inflating housing costs and of course nothing is being done to help. Don't move here.  Read More

Lovin' Palm Bay For Over 20 Years Now!!?? - 10/18/2020
My family of 4 have lived here in NW Palm Bay for over 10 years. My wife and my son from another marriage lived here for over 7 before that. I myself have lived here for well over 20 years and have never had any of the problems that people talk of here or anywhere else. The crimes are well taken care of and only in certain areas, just as in any city, and there are so many great people, places and things to do here it's just unimaginable that anyone couldn't find something Great about the area. Plus, Cocoa Beach is right up the road and Daytona as well as Orlando are both short car rides from here. St. Cloud/Kissimmee is another enjoyable area with plenty of fun to be had which is a hop-skip & a jump from here as well.

I'd say, come on down and see us for yourself. Open up your mind and hit some of the small restaurants toward the coast and see just what us locals have to share.

It's Safer in New England - 12/10/2019
I lived in Palm Bay for 12 years. It's a very unfriendly and crowded place to live. It's well into the 90's from late April till right around the 10th of November. The Medical field is unprofessional. The hospitals have very bad ratings. The wages are low. It's not a place to move to unless you're retireing and even then it's dangerous because of the bad medical care.

it is a nice place but lacks good paying job - 10/17/2017
The cost of living here is not cheap food is expensive if you make 45k you are screwed. If you are a minority you better have a job before you come down here other wise you are screwed. If you have bad money management skills you are screwed. It is a nice place to live the people can be friendly but dont let that fool Read More

WORST.PLACE.EVER. Palm Bay--Melbourne--West Melbo - 7/13/2016
For your own good, PLEASE DO NOT MOVE TO THIS AREA OR ANY AREA OF BREVARD COUNTY FLORIDA! The economy is in the tank, has been for years, and will be for several more. I made the worst mistake of my life coming here--unemployed for 4 YEARS (the entire time I've lived here). Brevard County is all about tech, IT, airplane and weapons manufacturing, retail, and restaurant. I'm an administrative professional--the ratio here is low for office jobs, so there are at least 50-200 other people applying for the jobs I am. That's according to employers who've interviewed me, and internet sites that show how many have applied to jobs. The area is rife with disreputable businesses desperately trying to make money (which is how my car got ruined), a visible homeless population, abandoned cats and dogs, and an unstable economy unable to handle the overflow of people like me and those worse off than me. Don't be fooled by the "busyness" of this area. The local government is focusing on Read More

I moved here from NYC and the cost of living as far as renting is lower, but there are not jobs. I got tired of the friendly attitude because how friendly can you be without a job to support yourself....Don't come here...you would be wasting your precious Read More

Moving here was not my best idea... - 4/5/2014
Moved here in June of 2012 from Berks County, PA, to escape the rampant unemployment and ridiculously high housing costs. I was assured by my mother and realtor that there were jobs here. They must have thought I said "mobs", not "jobs"! While housing is much lower than in southeastern PA, as well as a few other things, Palm Bay is a bedroom community with NO downtown to anchor it, only stores, restaurants, and undeveloped land as far as the eye can see.

The focus in Florida is ECOLOGY, rather than ECONOMY. I applaud the passion of Floridians to protect and preserve nature, but the time has come to focus on the citizens. The governor refused an unemployment compensation extension based on the number of people receiving it, rather than the reality that most people are no longer eligible to collect. There's something really wrong when 150 people apply for an administrative assistant position at F.I.T. that pays only $12.00/hour for full-time. And,by the way, shame Read More

I love it here. - 12/5/2012
I come from the most congested corrupt state and city in the world...Chicago,IL. I moved here because I hate crowds and love warm weather. My mortgage is non existant. My new house is a dream. My new pool is excellent, the beach is never ending, the weather is nice. I'd rather be homeless here than a millionaire in Chicago. You can have it I'm here to stay. To the people who hate it here, you're nuts... if you are essentially an uneducated lazy bustout then you will be one everywhere you go. To the fake contractors here... buy some tools or don't show up. Don't blame Palm Bay... my Read More
