I have found the cost of living here is above the national average. Lots of nice restaurants, good shopping, pretty beaches but it's getting more & more populated with more & more rules. It is not a typical southern city since the largest amount of people here have relocated from the NE part of the country & have brought their politics, ideas & rude demeanor with them. Alot of forgeiners live in the area & I would suggest knowing how to speak Spanish a good idea. So if you like the NE type of busy busy along with the hispanic culture & just a little bit of the slow south it may be for you. The summers are brutally hot & humid & long but the winters are mild & very pleasant. We do get about 350 days of sunshine a day!! The cost of living in Palm Beach Gardends has become financially unsustainable for our family. The homeowners taxes are ridiculously high and the homeowners insurance is becoming out of reach for most homeowners. Not to mention that the coverage is terrible. Between the taxes and insurance we are paying about $6,000.00 a year. That is almost equal to the principal and interest on our mortgage!!!
