What BestPlaces Users Say about St. Augustine
St. Augustine, located in Florida, is known for its beautiful beaches, historic landmarks, and charming downtown area. This popular tourist destination also serves as a permanent home for many individuals and families. With such a diverse community, there are bound to be varying opinions on what it's like to live in St. Augustine. After browsing through numerous user reviews on BestPlaces.net, it is evident that this city has a lot to offer, but also has its own set of drawbacks. Here are a few excerpts from different reviewers that provide a glimpse into the reality of living in St. Augustine.
1. "We moved to St. Augustine two years ago and have absolutely fallen in love with this town. The beaches, the history, the people - it's all amazing. We've made so many friends and feel like we truly belong here." - Sarah P.
2. "I've lived in St. Augustine for over a decade now and have seen it change drastically. While it's still a charming and beautiful city, it has become overrun by tourists and has lost some of its small-town feel. The traffic can be unbearable and the cost of living has skyrocketed. It's not the same place I fell in love with years ago." - John D.
3. "St. Augustine is the perfect mix of laid-back beach town and historic city. There's always something to do, whether it's going to the beach, exploring the old forts, or trying out a new restaurant. The only downside is the heat and humidity during the summer, but that's to be expected in Florida." - Lily M.
4. "I had high hopes for St. Augustine, but unfortunately, it fell short. The job market is limited and the wages are low. It's also not the most welcoming place for diversity. As a person of color, I have faced discrimination and have not felt fully accepted by the community." - Marcus B.
Overall, it seems like living in St. Augustine has its perks, such as its picturesque setting and rich history, but also has its challenges, including high tourism, traffic, and limited job opportunities. As with any place, it's important to weigh the pros and cons before making the decision to relocate.

I believe that the taxes are high if you live on the water, but inland they are less than Duval county. Unless you have a cdd charge in your neighborhood for protecting the preserve then they are not bad. Depends on where you want to live and what kind of community you live in and if you want a nice neighborhood with

We are about 35 to 40 miles outside of DT Jacksonville. Golfing is a number one sport and in our community we have had guest such as Tiger Woods and others play on our Golf

Great City, Love It! - 3/24/2006
I currently live in a neighorborhood known as Palencia, which is about 25 minutes outside of Jacksonville and about 10 minutes from downtown Saint Augustine I simply love it. The community is safe and clean, great for relaxing and keeping in shape, the property values are steady, a bargain, and very secure. If your looking for a great place to retire or just avoiding the hassle of a big city then pack your bags and come on down.
