Deceptive packaging - 8/13/2007
To look at Winter Springs you would think it was the All American, Ozzie and Harriet type community. The crime rate is low and the neighbors are friendly. Most of the area is made up of professionals with families. What doesn't show is the epidemic of under-age drinking and drug use that goes on. Teenagers have access to the most deadly and addictive drugs imaginable. I should know, my teenage son died from a reaction to methadone given to him legally at a local clinic. I have lived in Winter Springs 3 times in the past 8 years and I have to agree with a couple of things and I will give you my feeling about the area.
Nice schools, nice area. I agree. Super expensive, I agree.
Now, I have seen the changes in Winter Springs, there has been a lot of growth which also has made it very expensive and honestly for what the area has become, it's not worth your money. You can't buy anything as everything is very expensive. If you rent, you'll be looking at almost $1000.00 for a 2 bedroom apartment, and guess what?, it's an old apartment with a face lift and lots of problems.
Crime has risen as well. You will see that Winter Springs has become just another city in Central Florida where you really don't get what you pay for.
Beware, groceries are expensive, gas is expensive, cost of living is very high. I used to feel very safe going out at night, I have to admit that I rather not go out at night unless I'm in a group, but that's my Read More
