What BestPlaces Users Say about Tifton

Tifton, Georgia is a small city located in southern Georgia with a population of approximately 17,000. It is known for its agricultural industry and is home to the University of Georgia Tifton Campus. It offers a suburban feel with a low cost of living and a diverse community. To gain a better understanding of what it is like to live in this city, I have summarized user reviews from BestPlaces.net, a popular website for city reviews and rankings.

According to user reviews, Tifton is a welcoming and friendly community. One reviewer, Emily, states that the people are "some of the most helpful and caring individuals you'll ever meet." Another user, Jake, mentions that "the community is tight-knit and always willing to lend a helping hand." This highlights the strong sense of community found in Tifton.

Many reviewers also mention the affordability of living in Tifton. Sarah notes that "the cost of living is extremely low, making it a great place for families or retirees on a budget." Another user, David, praises the affordable housing options, stating that "you can get a lot for your money here compared to other cities in Georgia." This makes Tifton an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly place to live.

However, some users mention that the job market in Tifton is limited. According to Michael, "there aren't many job opportunities in Tifton, especially for those in specialized fields." Another user, Lisa, adds that it can be difficult to find a well-paying job in the area. This may be a concern for those looking to establish a career in Tifton.

Overall, the reviews paint a picture of a small and welcoming community with affordable living options. While the job market may be a drawback for some, those looking for a tight-knit community and a low cost of living may find Tifton to be the perfect place to call home.

Not a Friendly City - 9/24/2016
Tifton is a very hard place to come into if you are not from here and especially from another place that's not from the south. Tifton is known as the friendly city. It was the most unfriendly place with people who would yell at you just for walking your dog somewhere. The placed in went to do business with were rude. It is extremely cliqish. They say they are clean city. There was trash on the groundog, placed that needed mowing, trash cans that sat out in front of people's houses, etc. The town does have some beautiful areas.
It is so small and nothing to do. You can only go to TJ Max so many times. She mall has nothing decent. The Belk is okay. The restaurant choices are horrible with mostly fast food and nothing really healthy. The movie theater is horrible. The community has great potential if they will get more things and treat outsiders better and not be so cliqish. It wasn't a good place for me. I wouldn't recommend it for singles, and people who nother from Read More

A good town - 8/27/2010
Tifton is an good city. It depends on your age and what you’re looking for.If your looking for a party town with a lot of clubs Tifton is not for you. If you are looing for somewhere that has a hometown feel family oriented this town is for you! I've been here my entire life. The school system is good. I would know because I have kids that are in school here and I went to school here and also went to college here. We are the reading capital of the world. The teachers here really encourage reading. The area south of hwy 82 is majority African American and not all the areas are infested with drug abusers and abandoned houses. There are some nice neighborhoods and several schools south of hwy 82. I feel that there are a lot of cities that have rough spots but I don't feel Tifton is as bad. I live closer to the hospital which is a nice area but I have seen almost every area of Tifton due to having friend and family all over. I agree about not being able to get a good paying jobs here. AM FROM UP NORTH IF YOU WANNA GO SOUTH DO-NOT PASS ATLANTA, MACON ANYTHING ELSE YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS ADJUSTING WITH SALARY , THINGS TO DO. TIFTON IS VERY SMALL THE MALL CONSISTS OF JCPENNY, BELKS AND BEALS AND RUE 21 ,BATH AND BODY AND THREE OTHER STORES. WE HAVE MORE FOOD PLACES AND DO NOT FORGET THE GREAT WAL MART. BEFORE YOU TELL ME TO LEAVE I AM TRYING TO SELL THIS HOUSE AND AM GONE LIKE THE Read More

Moved to Tifton for college for several years. - 10/28/2007
I lived in Tifton, Georgia for three years. I worked several different jobs while attending college. If you are looking for a city to stay while in college, then I would say it's okay. The economy is declining, they have lost three major businesses in just the last year. The majority of jobs available are entry-level jobs, paying around $8.00 per hour or less.

Crime is very high, even if the police department ignores it. On average there is 20-25 burglaries and 4 robberies per month, in a town with a population of only 16,000 or so. If you live south of Hwy 82 you can expect to encounter numerous drug abusers and abandoned houses. A majority of the "Tifton-ites" refuse to drive through that part of town.

The school system is slowly becoming a joke. They call the town the "Reading Capital of the World." Which is funny because their library is located inside an old walmart, with no book stores nearby. There is also only three decent places to eat and dine/or Read More
