Watkinsville was a small town twenty years ago. Now all the pieces are in place for Watkinsville and Oconee County to join the ranks of Atlanta outlying coounties as sprawl haven. Oconee is 100% automobile dependent and getting worse. This is a "drive to" place. Socially, very conservative and many cling to the idea that they were here first so they get to call the shots.
