They don't want your kind here - 2/11/2010
No blacks, very little hispanics. I have been in woodstock a short period of time and already I see I am not welcome because I am not a redneck or religious preppy white person. They don't want you there if you don't look like them. Even the police are dicks. Like something out of a B movie, if they don't like you they will try to treat you like crap till you leave. I would steer clear of this wanna be eliteist city. All minorities should move here to spite them. Read More

Moved here from South Florida...many Floridian tra - 5/28/2008
We researched many Atlanta suburbs before moving here 6 months ago, and selected Woodstock because of the location, schools and the beautiful rolling hills. We loved that is was so developed without looking so developed...Starbucks on every corner, Fast Food galore, Publix, Trader Joe's, Target...all the shopping amenities you need at your finger tips. Atlanta, Who needs to go there excpet for work?

We are happy with our move here, but two things...take the warnings you here about commuting serious! It IS as bad as they say, and with the gas pricies climbing, it will not be worth any paycheck! Get the condo in the city and take the MARTA, "play" with the money you will save!!!

Another thing here is that daycare costs a fortune!!!! The prices are very high here, expect to pay close to $200 per WEEK for any child under 2yrs old!! We shopped around, but after all the drving you will do, you just want someplace close and safe...which is not cheap!

Left Arizona for Georgia - 3/25/2007
Long, boring, tiring drive to Georgia from Arizona; but worth it! Friendlier people, great weather with seasons, and reasonable housing. The humidity softens my skin. I know my neighbors. Rivers and lakes everywhere. No dust storms, and beautiful rain. Driving distance to many more states, not to mention the history here. Atlanta is a real city...a true city culture. Woodstock is farther north in the hills, but close to Atlanta; best of both Read More

housing has shot up whether out 40 iles or close - 2/20/2007
The metro atlanta area used to be very affordable. just in the last 6-8 years the market has been driven insanely up, for atlanta. people moving from california or new york used to get a 'mansion' from what they had, but now, i don't know. for a state that does not license builders, you have to be very careful about buying used or new homes, inspect inspect inspect!

You can't find affordable quality homes whether you are 25 miles from atlanta or 80. used to have custom builders making quality average homes, now, don't even think about it for less than 500k. Or you end up in the country in a townhome for the median price!

realtors and builders are too greedy , but thats a national problem. Condos have gone down about 15-40 grand, their market has tanked. resales are up as is the renovation industry. i've been here since the early 80's and loved it, now ....I just don't know where the southerners are hiding, they are the kind ones I moved Read More
