California takes over once again - 11/24/2015
A feature of life on Maui Island for at least the past 12 years I've lived here; keep in mind that many longer timers than I lament even more the same things lost. Is that easygoingness of times past. I believe that the influx of people used to the hustle and bustle, that kind of exactingly quantitative and self involved demeanor of a certain Southern Californian consciousness has redefined much of Maui 's north shore from Paia town on Back to Huelo. Heck, even to Keanai and Hana town, stopping before Kipahulu because one must possess real money to own back there and its all taken.
Mana Foods used to be deliberately accessible to all by its owners and the spirit of the town, its all gently been gentrifying in spite of having no space to do so. Vacation rentals, the bane of renters in the average rate affordability bracket on island, taking hold once again rendering it impossible to find average prices much less afford whats left.
