Love this awesome town! - 5/30/2019
I am new to Blackfoot and as a former west coaster I can say I survived winter, it was not that bad at all, (before this winter I had only driven in snow 4 or 5 times in my life). I love all of the amenities in this town, yes it is small which is what we wanted and Jensen Grove Park is amazing!!!!! There is a skate park, disc gold course, normal golf course, multiple play structures, concert area, man made lake, huge walking path, and beach area. They hold awesome events, our first one was Halloween and my kids loved it! Each holiday has had some celebration of sorts at the park. There is also a small airport and really good places to eat around town. Housing prices are awesome!!!! We managed to get a really good size house for under $200,000. The community is amazing and embraced us. My husband and I both have to commute to Pocatello but for us it is worth the 30 min drive (45 min to 1 hour during winter storms). I am not sure about the jobs in Blackfoot but if you want to earn more Read More

If you like potatoes... - 9/26/2007
I grew up in Blackfoot, and returned after traveling the West Coast and living in San Francisco for several years. The economy is terrible. There isn't much you can do but work in the potato factories or WalMart. The pay is horrible. I was working a management level job that I normally got paid $50K in CA, and was getting paid $11 an hour- it was very degrading. Men can make more in labor jobs or construction, but there just isn't much for female workers and they are marginalized to the lowest paying positions in factory work, retail, or office jobs. I moved here so that my parents could be close to my son, but I need to move because I don't see any oppurtunities for me in the workforce, and I hate giving one penny of my hard earned money to WalMart, because there is nowhere else to shop Read More
