Good place to Retire - 4/4/2010
We have lived in this city for 4 + years and enjoy the quality of life it offers. The Climate is fairly mild compared to other cold weather areas of the country, although we do have the four seasons. This high desert area is somewhat arid so temps seem mild during the summer months. This allows good winter sports yet provids a vasst array of activities all year long. The area is great for hunting and fishing and all other out door activities. housing is affordable and taxes are about average. There are several good hospitals in the area. Read More

Meridian ID - 12/5/2009
Meridian Idaho has been a great place to live. I have been here for just over a year, coming from central California. I was able to find an affordable housing with a large yard and work shop with storage that coincides with the business that I am restarting. Population is much smaller than I am used to, and the drivers are slow and seem to have nowhere to go, but that is noticed by me being from Cali. Air quality is great as I had chronic sinus problems for several years (even had surgery) and have not had a single problem here. Allergies are said to be bad, but only in spring. Last year, my first winter, we had snow a few days before Christmas, and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I also had cars stolen, broken into, tools stolen, garage broken into several times in California. I don't even lock my doors here. I feel very secure and thus able to reduce stress to an almost sleepy level. If you feel homesick, it is easy to find someone from California here in the Read More

Pleasant suburbia - 2/28/2008
Meridian recently placed in the top 50 suburban communities in the US. A bedroom community of Boise, it has a separate character of its own. The population today is seven times larger than in 1988. The town has a calm, contented, family-friendly feel without being boring. It is a highly churched community, has been building new schools almost every year, added some parks recently, and expands the police force in line with population growth. The oldish downtown reflects the farm roots of the area and is just beginning to be modernized and spiffed up. It is already clean and pleasant and will just get better. While the subdivisions seem to go on and on for miles in every direction, they are nice-looking and well-kept. There is no night life except restaurants. Bohemian it is not. You can live in north Boise for that. Meridian is not sappy suburbia, it's real family Read More

Housing slump - 9/9/2007
Home values that ran up in the sky are now falling and still people are not buying. There is a huge inventory of homes in the area and it is a nervous time for new construction as well as trying to get out of high mkortagae payments coupled with the fact that many are upside down.. The upside of moving here is that you may be able to pick up a distressed sale or foreclosure. The whole area (Boise) needs an influx of higher paying manufacturing jobs and its related research and development. Most of the jobs
here are service related(do ya want to supersize that?) and are not high Read More

Family Friendly - 3/7/2007
We have been in Meridian for about a year now and one of the things that never ceases to amaze me is the focus on family and community. The greater Boise area has an endless list of activities for childeren and families. Most of the activities are very affordable also. The area has great parks, a zoo, musuems, outdoor recreation such as fishing boating hiking, rock climbing, rafting, camping and bird watching. The climate is very moderate for this part of the country so most of the activities can be enjoyed year round. Overall Meridian and the greater Boise area is a great place for Read More
