The weather is horrible! - 1/18/2010
If you dont like the cold or snow I would not recommend Pocatello. There is not much to do here. There is not much shopping. They do have some ok places to eat. The town does not look very clean. The only good thing i can say is that the people here are Read More

Boring! - 8/11/2009
I've lived in Pocatello for 21 years now and I have wanted to move for about 10 years. There is a lack of jobs here, not many opportunities. Pocatello is a College city. There isn't much for shopping but there are a lot of fast food. I plan to leave as soon as I get the money to, which is hard to do in this city due to the low wages. This is the type of city that pays $12 straight out of College (if you are lucky). I don't like this city because of the price of Real Estate and the lack of good jobs. As for crime, it is low. It's a peaceful city and easy to make friends but it's hard to make a living Read More

my home town - 3/19/2009
Pocatello is the City that other cities wish they could be. While others are glade to have left their home towns I am not. I miss Pocatello and hope to get back there someday. Pocatello has some of the friendliest people in Idaho, and for people who like the outdoors it’s a dream. Yellow stone, Jackson Hole and Lava hot springs are all within a few hours drive. Weather there can be a little harsh and it can get very windy at times but it can be very pleasant at times as well. Crime rate in Pocatello isn’t very high due to the fact that Pocatello has more cops than any other city in Idaho, city, county and state all have stations in Pocatello. If you want to get away from the crowds of the city all you have to do is drive a couple of miles outside the city to be alone, here in Boise, you have to drive to Read More

Family Town - 10/2/2008
Pocatello is a great place to raise a family. Low cost of living, good schools (with an excellent charter school and two excellent private schools), and safe neighborhoods abound. Idaho State University provides cultural opportunities, and public lands with easy access to hiking, mountain biking, and skiing literally bump up against city boundaries. People genuinely care about their town and work to improve their small corner of the world. More tolerant than much of the West, with active Latino, Greek, Native American, and Black communities. Small arts scene with many small theatres and art shops, and lots of small musical offerings at various establishments each Read More

You missed something - 1/22/2008
When people are looking at a community, and wanting to know what the community has to offer them, I think a university atmosphere can be very inviting. When I looked on your website under my own zip code, I was terribly disappointed to find that there was no mention of Idaho State University. ISU has been an important fixture in the Pocatello area for a very long time. We have the nation's first collegiate covered (domed) sports stadium. We have a new multimillion dollar performing arts center that ranks nationally in acoustic performance, and ISU is the home of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo. These are only a few of the things that Pocatello has to offer that were omitted from your Read More

One of the best places in the state - 12/29/2006
Pocatello, I must admit is slow to take on the look of a big city or for that matter any progressive city. I have lived in Pocatello 16 years and been quite unimpressed with the community. Until recently there has been very little commercial growth in the city, but now the city seems to be getting into gear and encouraging more growth. The Mystique Dinner Theatre is bring some real talent and culture into the area as well as the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Commerce is apparently growing because some of the large restaurants and box stores are considering moving into the area.
Pocatello is a great place to raise children and getting better. There are good activities in the community where kids can get involved with sports and dance, and other good wholesome activities. I have let the city grow on me and now feel it's a great place to live, with Salt Lake City and Jackson hole, Yellowstone, Sun Valley about 2 1/2 hours away. There is everything you need to enjoy life here if Read More

NOT ENOUGH.. - 9/26/2006
THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH DIVERSITY. I LIVED IN POCATELLO FOR 10 YRS AND I DIDN'T REALLY CARE A WHOLE LOT ABOUT THE CITY. THERE AREN'T MANY THINGS TO DO WITH THE KIDS OR AS A COUPLE. POCATELLO IS REALLY BORING AND IS LACKING FAMILY FUN & ENTERTAINMENT. POCATELLO HAS BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AND IS SAFE & CHEAP PLACE TO LIVE BUT YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE DRIVING A LONG WAY FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND/OR SHOPPING. POCATELLO IS GROWING THEIR BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK RUNS SIDE BY SIDE WITH POCATELLO SO THE LIVING AREA IS QUITE LARGER. THERE ARE BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAINS THAT SURROUND POCATELLO-CHUBBUCK AREA. THERE IS ALOT OF COUNTRY THAT YOU CAN CHOSSE TO LIVE IN FOR CHEAP. WE ONCE LIVED IN THE POCATELLO HILLS AND WOULD SEE DEER ALL THE TIME IN OUR BACKYARD. POCATELLO WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE FOR A PERSON WHO IS ACTIVE IN OUTDOOR SPORTS SUCH AS SKIING, SNOWBOARDING, CAMPING & HIKING. THERE IS ALOT TO DO IF YOU ARE AN OUTDOORSMEN. THERE ARE MANY SKI RESORTS. PEBBLE CREEK SKI RESORT IS 10 Read More
