i live in alsip,il. i have lived here 25yrs. one of the best things about alsip is that the housing prices are reasonable compared to other comparable cities that are next to chicago. real estate taxes are moderate,schools are very good and in the last 5yrs or so the ethnic mix of people moving to alsip is also very good. we're a small community and everybody looks out for Read More

Alsip is OK - 12/29/2006
I've always preferred the south suburbs compared to ever living in the dirty city of Chicago. Alsip has great apartments and great condos, but most of the residents are lower class or lower middle class. Not so very polite people, with tons of kids and bad habits such as drinking and smoking weed. Any town that has a trailer park is not impressive to tourists. It has a southern flare with ditches dug in front of several homes to compensate for the lack of proper sewage. And where are the sidewalks? Most of the businesses are in neighboring towns, because Alsip is mainly residential. There are a couple of nice parks and that's it.
