Dixon Illinois - a great place to live! - 5/23/2012
Moved out of the Chicago Suburbs 16 years ago and won't go back. Housing is low cost, everything from gas prices to home prices lower than the suburbs and you can get there in an hour to visit friends and relatives that are stuck there. Great river community with a strong family feeling, pleasant people everywhere, but lacking in business opportunities. If you are looking to find a good place for your business this would be a place to look into. Right off the interstate I-88 with easy access to Iowa

Economy - 1/23/2009
The economy here is not as good as everyone says it is. There are no jobs here, and the ones a person does find are low paying and/or temporary. The city government spends to much time in fighting. Large expensive projects have taken precedence over standard maintenance of the city, i.e..road repair, water & sewer, inadequate parking, etc. Even with the problem this city has(as all do) Dixon overall is an exceptional place to live. It is coming along very well. Maybe someday the city will even have access to trains and public transit to which there is nothing now. This is a simple life here. Very few amenities compared to the big cities. If you like a simple view this is the place to come to. Very few places to eat and even fewer to
