Women Stay Away - 4/28/2019
Lived there for ten years and it's too saturated with crime because it's located so close to Gary IN. People are unfriendly and there's the "good ol' boy mentality especially by the local police department. Women who call 911 to get help with domestic violence are taken to jail and I never saw a female officer- all men. Drugs are prevalent in all other metro cities surrounding it. Local Crown Point business professionals take advantage of small business and several of them control the small town. Poor health care and terrible mental health providers. Republican state of mostly uneducated and misinformed citizens. Glad I moved back to my native home. Almost died there. Women don't relocate to this town as they live in a highly patriarchal mental fog. Read More

Typical midwest climate - 6/16/2013
Like all of northwest Indiana, the weather in Crown Point is affected by Lake Michigan. When July and August temps reach into the upper 90s a few miles south of here, the lake moderates temps in Crown Point to a slightly more comfortable lower 90s. The reverse is true in the winter, however, when icy lake winds freeze Crown Point and make a trip to Indianapolis almost as enjoyable as one to Florida.

Speaking as a life-long resident on Northwest Indiana, the only complaint I could make about the climate in Crown Point is that it is, like all of the Midwest, too cold in the winter and too humid in the summer for my personal comfort.  Read More

Life in corn... - 9/12/2007
All in all, life is good in NW Indiana. The climate is horrible! (January, February and March the temps are single digits.) The people are OK. I live in a very friendly neighborhood. (Lakes of the Four Seasons) Being close to Chicago is a blessing and a curse. It great to be able to pop into the city, but there are not many opportunities for great jobs outside of Chi. I don't have kids, but I hear the schools are Read More

Still a nice little town - 7/17/2007
I grew up in Crown Point during the 70's and 80's. I now live in Arizona. I've lived in many different states and I have to say that Crown Point is a wonderful place to have grown up. It still has the charm of a good ole midwestern town, nice people, good schools, good values, etc. It has a nice change of seasons with lots of green in the summer, pretty white snow in the winter and beautiful Read More
