What BestPlaces Users Say about Evansville

Evansville, Indiana is a city located in the southwestern corner of the state, with a population of approximately 117,000 people. It is known for its riverfront scenery, historic architecture, and affordable cost of living. However, like any other city, Evansville has its own unique qualities that can only be truly understood by those who have lived there. In order to get a better understanding of what living in Evansville is really like, I have summarized several user reviews from BestPlaces.net, a popular website for reviews and information about different cities.

According to user "Jake" on BestPlaces.net, Evansville is a great place for families and has a strong sense of community. He states, "Evansville is a great place to raise a family. The community is tight-knit and welcoming, and there are plenty of family-friendly activities and events to participate in." Another user, "Stephie", echoes this sentiment, saying "I have lived in Evansville for 5 years and have found it to be a very friendly community. Neighbors are always willing to lend a helping hand and there are lots of opportunities to get involved."

However, not all reviews about Evansville are positive. User "David" shares his experience with the job market in the city, stating "I have struggled to find a job in Evansville. The economy is not very strong and there are limited opportunities, especially in certain industries." This sentiment is also echoed by user "Julie", who says, "The job market in Evansville is tough. I have been searching for a job for months with no luck. It seems like most of the jobs available are low-paying and not very fulfilling."

While there may be differing opinions about certain aspects of living in Evansville, one thing that many users seem to agree on is the affordability of the city. User "Bryan" states, "The cost of living in Evansville is very reasonable. I am able to afford a nice home in a good neighborhood and still have money left over for savings and leisure activities." Similarly, user "Emily" says, "I moved to Evansville from a larger city and was pleasantly surprised by how affordable it is. I am able to save more money here and still enjoy a good quality of life."

In conclusion, Evansville, Indiana seems to be a city that offers a close-knit community, affordable cost of living, and some challenges in the job market. Of course, these are just a few excerpts from different user reviews and everyone's experience may vary. However, these insights can give a better understanding of what it's like to live in Evansville from the perspective of those who have actually lived there.

Evansville…..A great place to live! - 12/28/2021
I have lived in many places including Chicago Gary Indiana, Reno Nevada, Western Kentucky, and the north, west, and east side of Evansville so when I read the things that people have said about how dangerous it is they apparently have not lived in what I consider much more dangerous places like the southside of Chicago and Gary and downtown Reno Nevada. There are bad sides of town in any city you go but I have to say Evansville has and will always be my home. I just moved back from Florida and let me tell you the grass isn’t always greener on the other side I was there to help my dad while he was sick after he passed away I came back home. Evansville has the most down to earth and the kindest people. The cost of living is much more reasonable than most places I have been all of my children were raised and went to school here. I would say Evansville is one of the places you can find whatever type of lifestyle you are looking for it has the historical area, or you can live out in the Read More

It's not for everyone. - 3/13/2018
To write this review kind of makes me sad because I am attached to my city but I'm finally planning to leave because I just can't wait a lifetime for it to catch up to reality: Evansville is a large "small town" that thinks it's a big city.

I've lived in Evansville since 1994. Before this I was in a small town in southern Alabama and I must say: it's very different to be from nowhere and expect "nowhere-ness" than to be in a place that thinks it's more than it is. It's disheartening. That is Evansville.

It is very stagnant and, not to get too petty, the old money here just gets in the way of organic growth. It's a city of chain restaurants and jewelry stores. It doesn't give enough love to the local businesses that make Evansville truly unique. Also it chokes out new ventures. It's nothing to see a new chain restaurant open up and then close within the same year. It's got a few popular bars, like 8 of them, and most weekends you'll still feel a bored in Read More

Not friendly. I am sorry I moved here. - 10/19/2016
I live on the south-east side. I have lived here eight years, am an outgoing person, love people, but, considering Indiana is known for Hoosier hospitality, it somehow missed the boat. People rarely speak and I have to take the initiative to start a conversation. For the size of the city, there is very little to do. It does seem to have opportunities for education but, if I were a student, I'd get out of town as soon as I graduated. I see population is down; now I understand why.  Read More

The armpit of the Earth. - 1/14/2016
The title pretty much sums up my sentiments on this place. Out of the 15 different places I have lived, including out of the country, this one takes the cake on sucking. Everyone pretty much hit all the negatives, the only plus is that housing is incredibly cheap and traffic is not an issue. There's not much to do. The 4-H fair and a few restaurants downtown aren't what I would call a cultured and lively city.
If you dig cornhole and mudding you might like it.

Run.
