Great place for a family! Not for a single male in - 9/29/2013
I am a single male in his 20's who moved here for work. I bought a nice 4 bedroom house for dirt cheap. Unfortunately I'm not sure if that was the right move. Nightlife dies down at around midnight and there isn't many opportunities to meet new people in my age group. Fortunately, Downtown and Broadripple is just a half hours drive away, but all there is to do there is get drunk.
The schools are great. The crime in minimal. Everybody is friendly and nice. Every kid seems to have something to do with sports. There are signs everywhere above garages with names of kids and what sports they are in.
You know a city is up and coming when there are 2 Walmarts in it. More and more stores and restaurants are popping up. New housing additions are everywhere. They are trying to build a "downtown" Fishers area currently. That might help attract the younger crowd.
I'm currently trying to move to a bigger city (not "Nap Town") with more things to do and that

Great town to live in - if you can stand the summe - 7/10/2012
I moved to Fishers 2 1/2 years ago for a new job in nearby Indianapolis. Since then I've taken a work from home job, so it doesn't matter where I live. Fishers has been a great town to live in, except I find I dislike the hot summers. I grew up in Ohio and used to like the Mid-West weather. In the past several years summers in this part of the country have gotten hotter. Too bad because Fishers otherwise has what I consider the best qualities: low taxes, inexpensive housing, very low crime, moderate cost-of-living and great shopping with Indy close

Busy, but Livable - 2/17/2009
I've lived in Fishers now for fifteen years. It has grown tremendously, but still maintains a slower pace of life than other places. Great place for families. The cost of living is very good. It is a lot less expensive for most goods than other states. We are the crossroads of America, so we get a good amount of a lot of different commodities and consumer goods.

Affordable Fishers - 3/17/2008
Fishers, IN seems affordable because most of the new homes built in the past 8 years are made of vinyl, plasterboard, and plastic foam. These "affordable" homes rest on tiny lots carved out of corn fields. Fishers is surrounded by malls and apartment complexes and replete with fast food places, nail shops, and dry cleaners. And lots of traffic. The population has nearly doubled over the past 10 years with no significant adjustment to local highway infrastructure. If you enjoy long commutes to the city, asphalt, concrete, and cheesy retail, by all means, come to the Fishers/Noblesville

Fishers is a great place to live. My wife and I have two kids. We love living right next to Indy. The schools are great, as are the parks. It is a young and booming city. Crime is almost non-existent. After living here for four years, there's really not much to complain
