I moved from Monroeville when I was still in grade school and that was probably one of the worst things ever. I remember Monroeville had a small town charm that couldn't be surpassed by any other town I had ever been in. To this day (and I live in a very small town now), Monroeville is still at the top of the list for me as far as beautiful places and people of the state. My father recently moved back there where he still knows everyone and they welcomed him back as if he had never left at all. Quality of Life In Monroeville? HA HA - 10/9/2008
Like the "Twilight Zone", Monroeville is a town that has and will never evolve from the demention or should I say dementia that encompasses it. According to some of my older relatives, back in the 1940's and 1950's, it actually had a small amount of culture. Now, you get your culture in large alcoholic doses from the Staggerz, The Pour House, and Sportsters (which should have been left with it's original name of "The Casablanca"), the American Legion, and the liquor store. Some catch phrases for Monroeville may read like this: 1. "You ain't cool if you ain't a volunteer fireman".(after you drag them out of the bar to go fight the fire)
2. "I was the Monroeville Harvest Festival Queen".(which translates into Mom and Dad bought all the tickets,because God knows it is not based on beauty or chastity)
3. "Gotta work on my demolition derby car". (Redneck Racing was the most original thing that family ever thought up.
