Bad weather, worse people. - 11/14/2021
Snowy cold weather like the north with inbred hillbillies like the south. This town is truly the worst of both worlds. Dumb, uneducated white trash is the norm, not the exception here. Unless you enjoy living in an artic version of Deliverance, I'd avoid this place. You'll know you're close when you hear the banjos Read More

Small town Indiana personified - 8/7/2020
It's a small northern Indiana town. That's pretty much all you can say. I can't speak for the city schools, but my experience at Maconaquah was good, especially after teaching in Kokomo. I really appreciate it a lot now. The weather here is miserable in the winter, but hey, housing is cheap. Try Mr. Weenie and Taco John's when you're in town. The former is a local place and the latter a very small chain, but pretty darn good. This town isn't for me anymore, but there were certainly worse places I could've grown Read More

Dump of a Town !!!! - 9/20/2009
Peru is a Very Sad Place to Live. The People here are Very Rude,it shouldn't be that way for such a Small Hicktown. I'm out of this Dump Soon and will Never Return. I could go on and on but I'll Give a Few Examples Because it wouldn't be Fair not to. 1# Bad Schools,2# Bad Economy even in Good Times 3# Rude People, 4# Lack of Restaurants and Entertainment unless you wanna Eat Dinner at Subway or the Flippin Bowling Alley (NO THANKS). And the Worst and Most Fairweather Sports Fans that you'll ever come Across. Locals here might be Angry with me but they Know i'm Right.

This Place Stinks don't even Pull of the Highway to eat Here you'll Regret Stopin i'm Read More

very sad!! - 8/13/2009
This town has a way of bringing out the worst in you. I would not bad mouth this Place if it wasn't so true. Yeah it's boring but so are a lot of small Towns. I have a problem with the People here they are so Rude and I find that so strange for such a small town. The People here don't even want to know you they just stare and give you dirty looks. That's to be expected in large metro areas such as New York,Chicago etc but not here. I've tried to make Friends here but to no evail these People are Phony. I know there are good People here but you realy gotta look hard because most are gossip Types and that I wont be a part of. There isn't even a good Place to go eat just your Local Burger king or Subway. So I will be moving out of this Place and I will never return. I do wish the best for the People here and I hope that they can find Read More

Life is a circus!! - 3/16/2008
I grew up in this town but fortunately got married and moved to another crappy, nothing to do Indiana town. The other reviews of Peru are correct. There is nothing to do and all the time in the world to do it in!!

Lets break it down by age. If you are 5 to 21 you are either in the circus or in trouble. Yes, that is right, I said circus. Peru is the "Amateur circus capital of the world" in case you didn't know. Time is passed by practicing sports, circus, swing choir, or getting high and drunk.

Now it is time for the over 21 group. Still there is nothing to do except go to one of the million bars in the town.

As for the cost of living, Peru is very cheap!! It is a safe town. Not too much happens here. The school system isn't horrible but could be Read More

it all happens here - 6/2/2007
It may not be the most exiting place to visit! However if you live here then you may have another view, the residents as a whole may not be the most friendly people to deal with or even talk to. It is not that way all the time, it all stems from the leadership of the city. Leaders make the followers and in this town we have real people in a make belive world. I say this because our leaders are living on the wealth of the people by enforceing too many taxes and "fees" that they want to make the people live with. These fees they can not afford! So if the leaders will look around they will find that there gravy boat has a hole in it, that they have created. It will sink and become empty very soon. When we get a new fee in this town someone is getting a new car, house, boat, motorcycle or something new. Now on to the more important issue a church on every corner YES but they are bingo halls and bazair events, they are no longer GODLY events just social clubs. So you could say they have Read More

A Hole - 5/13/2006
It's boring. Not very many things to do. There are a few bars, a bowling alley, a church on every corner(only two catholic ones) and about a hundred different restaurants. No one seems to eat at home in this town. The majority of the population is conservative/narrow minded, but there are a few cool people around. By the way, dont plan on listening to the radio in this town, you can never get decent Read More
