Living in Houma - 1/31/2018
I lived in Houma from 2 years of age until 61. If you love fishing, eating fried/boiled seafood, and enjoy hot humid weather, this is your town. Except for having easy access to New Orleans, there’s not much else to do. The pseudo tv station is good to watch for comic relief and morning prayers are played instead of the news. In 2015 I moved to the Pacific Nortwest and it became very apparent how backwards Houma was and how little there was to do. No trails, no beautiful campgrounds, just heat, humidity, mosquitoes, gnats, and fishing. It was a great town to grow up in but as an adult, pas bon. One more observation living near the Seattle area is the predatory nature of the Louisiana State police and local revenue gathered police. In a short visits to Houma I’ve seen more police waiting to pounce on drivers than in a year up here yet Houma still scores high in crime. Their presence must bring in plenty cash. If you are a fishing nut, check out Houma. If you’re not into fishing, Read More
