Review of Houma, Louisiana

Low Education Level
Star Rating - 3/3/2008
Many people here stop at high school due to the booming oil industry. They can easily get a job working off-shore with little to no experience. When locals do go to college, there is often nowhere for for them to work in their new field. Thus the cycle continues.

Yes, Houma has little to absolutely NO entertainment for adults and especially for young people. When, Houma does have an occasional festival, it’s primarily for and with Caucasians in mind. Houma has a substandard Educational System, Lack of Financial growth, Low Wages (mostly service jobs) and Over Priced Real Estate Market. I strongly agree, with another opinionated comment, most students end their education after 12th grade or earlier. Now, that Hurricane Ida has come and gone the area seems to be even more desolate and with much more despair. Resident for over 30 years.
