Jefferson, Louisiana is a small town located near the Mississippi River in Central Louisiana. It has a rich history and culture that dates back to the early 1800s with its original inhabitants, the Choctaw people. Many visitors come to Jefferson to experience its unique atmosphere and attractions such as the historic stores, restaurants, and other sites. Jefferson is also known for its popular festivals and events like Mardi Gras parades, The Krewe of Priscilla ball, The Beaux Arts Festival, and the annual Catfish Festival. Visitors enjoy all that Jefferson has to offer from its outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and camping to exploring its historical sites like Fort Jesup State Historic Site or Catahoula Parish Courthouse Museum.
