Wouldn’t make the voice to live here again - 9/28/2020
Very difficult to find a job here if you’re not hired by the university. When my husband got a job with the university, I didn’t think it would be so difficult for me to find a job elsewhere, especially since I have a master’s degree and a stellar background with a Fortune 100 company. Not so. After a few months figuring out the culture here what I realized is I don’t fit the perception of the good little Christian woman who keeps her mouth shut and doesn’t have an opinion about anything. The only jobs for women here are as teachers or secretaries. Unless, of course, you’re hired by the university. The restaurant scene here is dismal. I’ve heard some talk about good restaurants, but honestly, only people who have not traveled would say Ruston has good restaurants. Mediocre at best with no international variety.
