Death By 1000 Incompetenants - 9/1/2020
The pace of its death is picking up. A place that should be moving forward is following the path of Rust belt cities that died. Downtown has potential, but the politicians and well-healed stop that from happening. The long-time local are confused and believe Shreveport society Read More

Get Out While You Can - 8/13/2019
Shreveport is dying a slow painful death. If you are thinking of relocating here; I would not advise it. Since moving back twenty years ago, I have watch the town deteriorate. There are shooting every night where innocent bystanders are killed. One feels very unsafe when going to Walmart--even during the day. The property taxes are outrages for a town this size because the majority of the population does not work; the city revenue has to come from something. The city water smells really bad, and so does the rates to pipe the water into you house. If you drive throughout the city on the pothole roads, you see boarded up houses or vacant property where a house or business once stood. The city is riddled with trash everywhere. People in Shreveport usually just throws there trash out the window of there car or they dump it on the side of the road because it cost to much to take it to the landfill. If you buy a house today, the same house will be worth less in a year, guaranteed.  Read More

Butt crack to run from! - 7/20/2019
Heed the warnings and read the reviews. This place is the pit with high crime and filled with judgemental and insular Jesus freaks. And not to mention all the racist Trump voters. Try to sell a house and you are in big trouble. Stay away at all Read More

Do not move to Shreveport - 4/27/2019
I have lived in this city for almost one year. The crime is real! Home burglary/theft of personal property occurs no matter where you live. Parrish/ state tax is high (almost 10%). Roads are in poor condition and ruin your car. Poorly run government. Almost entire city is a flood zone and it rains often. Do not recommend living Read More

Bad Economy, High Crime, Poor Schools - 12/21/2017
The facts: +7% unemployment. One of the highest violent crime rates in the nation. High drop-out rates, low test scores. Almost no population growth (who wants to live there?). Bad roads and bridges. Poor health (lots of diabetes and obesity). And, save for a few areas, ugly: strip malls (many boarded up), big signs for gas stations and fast for joints.  Read More

Miserable place to live!! - 10/26/2017
I’m military and am from a small town in WY I’ve lived in this hole for 2 years and can’t stand it. This town is severely underdeveloped and the crime is rampant. The roads will destroy your vehicle because they aren’t maintained. These roads don’t have cracks, they have the Grand Canyon separating them so your brand new vehicle gets its alignment destroyed in a month and your tires massive chunks of rubber ripped out. I have a respect for the run down cars that drive around town on 32 inch rims.. (that’s all you see!) the insurance is sky high here because nobody has it, we pay 500 dollars a month for full coverage on a small truck that cost us 95 dollars in Texas. The people are uneducated and brutal. My vehicle has been broken into twice and Almost stolen once. My wallet has been pick pocketed twice. The malls are ghetto, and you can literally hear gunshots down town. This is not a safe town for children. I feel unsafe here. Don’t move here unless Uncle Sam forces you to.. If he Read More

READ BEFORE MOVING TO SBC!! - 2/1/2017
Shreveport/Bossier City is not only the worst place I have ever lived, it is the worst place I have ever visited. Here are some factors contributing to this conclusion:
- Smoking is allowed in every bar/pub/casino. All of them. It is almost encouraged. Spend more than 30 seconds in one and your clothes will smell so bad you will have to tie them in a plastic bag when you get home. The three breweries don't allow smoking, but per local laws must close at 9PM, even on weekends. No other large city in Louisiana allows smoking in bars, which represents how behind Shreveport is by comparison.
- If you are a single non-smoker, good luck. The dating pool is ankle-deep and your only options for mingling are a chain restaurant waiting area or the Louisiana Boardwalk which is an outdoor mall where 30% of the stores are closed-down, even though is was recently built. Open up Tinder and your phone will laugh at you. (Unless you are into big girls with gold teeth who are bending over Read More

TRASHY!!! - 12/3/2016
This city has been the trash heap of North Louisiana for decades now and it looks like there is no plans to change that. There are some modern shopping centers in the suburban areas but they are almost all on one very congested monster of a road (Youree Drive), which forbids U-Turns for some strange reason. Otherwise, the biggest claim to fame in this place is the sky high murder rate and the casinos. Most of the people here are very poor/uneducated and about on every corner you'll see a classic "seedy" establishment like a strip joint or a payday loans service. If that's your kind of city, have at it. Otherwise, you might want to save your money and head to Read More

Question on moving to Shreveport/Bossier City - 4/4/2016
Hi,

We are looking to retire in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. We are looking there because it is affordable. However, we are very concerned because of all the negative postings from other people.
1) Is the area really that bad when it comes to crime?
2) Are there areas to avoid?
3) Can someone rent a two bedroom apartment in a good area for $650 a month?
4) We currently live in a low-income area of Sacramento, CA which is predominantly African-American. We have encountered direct prejudice from our neighbors since we are white. We are hoping to avoid this problem in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Could someone point out what areas to avoid because of crime? We are just looking for a safe, quiet neighborhood where we can live our lives.

Thanks,
