Olney, Maryland is a small town located northeast of Washington D.C. Known for its historic charm and family-friendly atmosphere, Olney has become a popular place to call home. With a population of just over 35,000, this community offers a suburban feel with easy access to big city amenities. However, as with any place, there are pros and cons to living in Olney. To get a better sense of what it's like to live in this town, let's take a look at what some users have to say about their experiences in Olney.

According to user "Jenna", Olney is a great place for families with children. She mentions, "There are excellent schools, parks, and community events that make this town very family-friendly." On the other hand, user "John" shares a different perspective, saying, "While it's a nice town overall, the cost of living is quite high and the job market is limited." These varying opinions highlight the importance of considering individual needs and preferences when deciding to live in Olney.

Another user, "Maria", praises Olney for its strong sense of community. She writes, "There's a real sense of connection among neighbors and the town really comes together to support local businesses and events." This sentiment is echoed by user "David" who adds, "The people here are friendly and welcoming, making it easy to feel at home in Olney." It's clear that the sense of community in Olney is a major draw for many residents.

However, not all reviews are positive. As with any place, it's important to do thorough research and consider your personal preferences before making a decision to call Olney home.

Wonderful Place - stop using Laurel’s Crime Stats! - 9/21/2021
Been here since 2015. Peaceful and lots of green space for natural beauty. Convenient to given the shopping village with all that is needed.

I must express disappointment in how this site uses Laurel’s crime stats to guess Olney’s as they state that the FBI does not have crime stats for Olney. Olney is a far safer place and I find it absurd to project Laurels crime stats to Olney. Completely different place a 30 minute drive apart!  Read More

Olney, Maryland from farms to being a great little - 1/21/2016
In 1957 my parents almost bought a house with a stable for two horses. When the deal went south, I came close to divorcing my parents! Forty years later, my wife and I purchase a home in Olney and have now lived there for 30 years. We love the community spirit and the friendliness of the people living here. We have an annual Community Night & Taste of Olney, where we can meet the local merchants and taste the treasures of the local restaurants. It is run by the Olney Chamber of Commerce, which works hard to promote the communities and it's business members. We have a live theatre, which has excellent performances and many churches and private schools. We have the Olney Swim Center, run by the Montgomery County Recreation Dept. where we take Water Aerobics twice weekly for a very reasonable price and well planned shopping centers. Olney is located North on Georgia Avenue, just past the intersection with the Inter County Connector, I-200 and is approximately 12 miles north of Read More

Loved It! - 6/21/2007
I moved to Olney and bought a townhouse in 2001 and loved it. I was very close to shopping, parks, fire department, and even the hospital. My neighbors were friendly and it was easy to get around. Would recommend for anyone looking to get "out of the city", but still wants to be close to everything for Read More
