Olney, Maryland from farms to being a great little -
1/21/2016In 1957 my parents almost bought a house with a stable for two horses. When the deal went south, I came close to divorcing my parents! Forty years later, my wife and I purchase a home in Olney and have now lived there for 30 years. We love the community spirit and the friendliness of the people living here. We have an annual Community Night & Taste of Olney, where we can meet the local merchants and taste the treasures of the local restaurants. It is run by the Olney Chamber of Commerce, which works hard to promote the communities and it's business members. We have a live theatre, which has excellent performances and many churches and private schools. We have the Olney Swim Center, run by the Montgomery County Recreation Dept. where we take Water Aerobics twice weekly for a very reasonable price and well planned shopping centers. Olney is located North on Georgia Avenue, just past the intersection with the Inter County Connector, I-200 and is approximately 12 miles north of Washington, DC. While the farms and horses are mostly gone, and the speed cameras and traffic lights are catching up with us, it is still a great place to live! There is a number of new housing developments being built and you should check Olney out!!
