Overrated and expensive - 1/10/2020
On 3 different occasions I have lived here, each time it wasn't my first choice. My opinion has not changed, but gotten worse. First, the cost of living is not accurate according to the chart. Utilities are expensive. Beverly relies on National Grid for electricity, so for two working people you can expect your bill to be anywhere from $90-180 depending on the season. That's just wrong! Rents and mortgages are both expensive based on cost per square foot. You don't get a lot for your money.

I have lived in Beverly for almost 5 years, and have loved every minute of it. The weather is pleasant, but you have to love winters. There are so many views of the ocean, from so many points in the city. It's convenient to Boston, with 2 trains running regularly. It's beautifully festive during the holidays, and there's a very quaint, old-fashioned atmosphere about the city. The jobs are plentiful, if you want to work, and there's always something/activities going on when you don't work! It's only minutes away from Gloucester, the whale watching capital of the world, and Salem, the "witch capital" of the country, with tons of history. And you can't beat the natural beauty, bordered with a beautiful Read More
