Not so bad - 7/31/2016
A lot of negative thing are being said about fall river on this page. I grew up in this city and I have to say it was much nicer when I was a child.but it seems like every generation thinks things were better when they were kids... Fall river has great food, cost of living is low, great schools and a lot of business opportunity.it is a great location also, only 15 minutes from providence and 45 from boston.. So to all you negative people here,, if you don't like it here... Read More

Fall River, MA Where do I begin? - 2/21/2013
As someone who was born and raised in Fall River, MA, I have to say that all the negative remarks I read are absolutely correct. In fact, the only good thing about Fall River is the food. The Portuguese bakeries and restaurants are the only enjoyable thing in this poor excuse of a city, and thanks to the internet you can have this awesome food shipped anywhere in the U.S., so if you are thinking of moving here do yourself a favor, find somewhere, anywhere, but here! There aren't any jobs. I am a college student, and when I graduate I will be relocating. The city streets are atrocious. I have sued the city twice for damages to my car. The drivers suck. They constantly sit through green lights only to jump through the yellow to leave you sitting at the like. The mentality here is all about themselves. Don't get me wrong, not everyone here is an idiot. Those who think logically want out, and they try hard to do so. The only way out is through education.Read More

Don't do it! - 7/8/2012
I have to agree with Kat on this one. I lived in San Diego for 9 years, and left due to my daughter living in the Northeast (Southeast Mass). My best advice to you if you haven't already moved is don't do it! I thought the same, real people and friendly. Ha! I heard from many that they loved Mass, easier to say when you don't live here anymore. I am moving back to San Diego in less than 2 months, and I can't wait. The people out here are not very friendly. The vast majority that live in the Northeast, well at least Massachusetts, are not cultured whatsoever. I have lived in many of different places, did nine years in the military and just simply cannot adapt to this place. You'll see if you haven't already, "the grass is not always greener on the other side". San Diego here I Read More

Currently Fall River and looking to move South! - 8/14/2010
Fall River is a FORMER mill/factory town of years gone by. Much the same as people from other NE communities, a majority of the population are stuck in a rut with thoughts of the past in the heads. They are SO regional in that a 50 mile commute to Boston is considered a 'big deal' and 'far away!' Granted, because of the population living very close together the drive time to Boston isn't the same 50 miles as it would be further west. Nevertheless, many of the people in the community look back and pine for days gone by and take poorly to change!

People here to their credit are rather friendly inspite of their community being on the brink of a financial depression. The majority of the city is an eyesore in terms of both private property and city street cleanliness. The cost of living is moderate compared to both the Greater Boston and Greater Providence areas which are much higher! Also grocery shopping prices are reasonable too and other things such as dining, Read More
