One of the last affordable places in metro Boston - 1/26/2006
Natives of the Boston area tend to be a bit provincial and quick to judge people by where they live. Lawrence has had some down years. It lacks the sterling reputation and highly rated school system of some of its municipal neighbors, but it also serves as one of the few places in eastern Mass where people of modest means can still afford to own a home. I am not a native and consider myself immune to "quick draw" opinions, so I've enjoyed my stay in this city. My neighborhood is clean and quiet. The people here are friendly and helpful.
