Taunton, MA is a great place to call home. Located in the heart of Bristol County, and close proximity to both Providence and Boston, it's an ideal spot for those who want to enjoy all the amenities that city living has to offer while still being able to enjoy a more laid-back country atmosphere. With a wide array of family-friendly activities such as visiting the Taunton Green, hitting up the local movie theater or catching a game at one of their many sports venues, there's something for everyone in this charming city. People also love dining out at the various restaurants around town - from classic American eats to delicious Italian cuisine - and shopping at nearby malls. And with great educational institutions like Bristol Community College and Curry College just down the road, it's no wonder that people are taking notice of Taunton. Overall, residents are thrilled with this small-town feel in the middle of all that big city energy and have given Taunton mostly positive reviews.

A future city hall - 8/14/2010
Recently Senator Marc Pacheco sent a flyer inquiring as to what single project would involve both the private sector and the Massachusetts State Government; what single project would stimulate the regional econcomy; what single project would create jobs.
My response to these questions (although it was phrased as one sentence) would be the planning, construction, design, and employment in creating/constructing/maintaining a Taunton Civic Center.

Currently the size of City Hall is inadequate to contain over 50 departments and commissions; many are scattered throughout the city. This would be an opportunity to consolidate the city services into a single concise area downtown. It would also generate business for the downtown area, changing it from a commerical area to a service center. Ancillary businesses would spring up to serve some basic needs of the workers and visitors.

Constructing a building between 15-20 stories would be designed to house not Read More

Trains, buses, and planes - 2/6/2009
How about a car, the best way to get to Taunton is by car. Train service may be forthcoming, but won't be here for a couple of years. There is bus service to and from Boston and Providence. However Providence is closer to Taunton. Route 44 is directly east of Providence and is quicker than 195 or 295. Route 44 is a bit more scenic than either of the two federal roads and places you directly in the center of Taunton. The Taunton Green can be a bit confusing, but as I have told friends, drive around a few times and get orientated then make your move! Public transportation is not a priority in the city, but all depends on the price of gas, which will influnce public transportation. Taunton has a small airport mostly for one engine planes. Taunton is the center of Bristol county and thereby has a natural closeness to other major cities such as, Providence RI, Fall Rive MA, New Bedford MA, Newport Read More
