Taxes and Local Government - 5/21/2014
Real Estate taxes are among the highest in the state are growing. Current spending projects include rebuilding the town hall, new giant fire man house with all the latest in flat panel televisions, a new cemetery, renovated country club restaurant, home of AstraZeneca that will be leaving soon as a result of merger with Pfizer..., and along with it the and it just does not stop. Avoid this town at all cost. Look at neighboring town shrewsbury for taxes that are 1/2 and better schools. 12th highest taxes in the 495 Metro West area... with some of the most poorly managed services and self serving government officials. Add to that a 30 % Asian population, and growing, and you will quickly wish you never moved here.
This town has over spent for years.... the bill will come due ... soon

A nice suburb of Boston - 3/5/2007
Westborough was rated among CNN money magazine's top 100 places to live. It is very nice for families. Virtually crime free. 15 minutes to Natick and 30-40 minutes to Boston. (Awful traffic at rush hour though)
If you are moving from anywhere other than a big metro area like NYC or Los Angeles, you will learn a hard lesson in cost of living. This is true for anywhere near Boston. Westborough is no different. Average decent house is $400,000 average rent for a 3 bedroom is $2,000.00. Average cost of daycare is $800-900 a month for one toddler.
Westborough schools are excellent. There is a sense of community and commitment to education.
Car insurance, electricity and groceries are all expensive compared to many states. State tax also takes a good chunk of your paycheck. Westborough gets more snow than Boston metro area and more freezing days. Lots of good shopping nearby. Many attractions within 1 hr of drive.

Relocating to MA - 12/9/2006
I am contemplating to move to MA with my 6 yr-old son because of the new job and I like to have people opinion on the place. I have been looking and researching the town to live in and I think Westborough is my idea because it is closed to Natick.

Can some of you that live there give me info of to what the average income is to be able to live comfortably, housing. It seems like everyone is renting.
Can you survive there when your income is in the 70s? Howmuch do they tax your personal income? Can you afford a house with that salary?

Is the area safe? good school? friendly people? etc...Anything will help

Thank Read More
