A great place to live ... if you have a really goo - 5/15/2010
The Blackstone Valley is beautiful. It also has one of the highest snowfall levels in the country. Winter can be very long and you may not see the ground for months at a time. On the other hand, we have about the most glorious autumn you can imagine and sometimes, with a bit of luck, springtime is almost as lovely. Summers are usually hot and humid and we get a lot more rain than people think. This is classic New England ... at its best and worst. This area is very white, very churchgoing, and largely rather provincial. A surprising number of people are born, live and die and never drive the 50 miles to Boston.

But it is beautiful. There are plenty of doctors and hospitals, the schools are pretty good, the people are friendly and the countryside is gorgeous.

It is an expensive place to live. Housing, groceries, heating, electricity, gasoline ... everything is very high-priced. To live even decently, you need a combined income of at least 75,000 and that's Read More
